RadGuy 1,614 Posted August 18, 2015 Charlotte Rae, known for her role as Edna Garret in "Diff'rent Strokes" and spin-off "The Facts Of Life", is 89 years old. Here is a little about her medical history from Wikipedia: In 1982, Rae had a pacemaker implanted in her heart. In 2009, due to the frequency of pancreatic cancer in her own family, Rae was screened and diagnosed early. Her mother, an uncle, and her elder sister Beverly all died of the disease. Rae is cancer-free and in remission as of 2015. Is she a possible candidate for 2016? I'll definitely add her to my Personal Deathlist.
Sean 6,337 Posted August 18, 2015 Well it sounds like she is out of the woods however cancer does have a horrible habit of coming back and at nearly 90 if it does treatment will only get harder. The pacemaker is significant as I am pretty sure you have to replace them every few years and at her age that could be serious.I am not sure whether she should go on the list but if she was put on the list next year I would understand why much like I do with Kerchaval and Large this year. She was wise to keep up the screening program for pancreatic cancer.I read somewhere that Carter stopped his screenings a few years ago which is probably why he is in huge trouble now. CaptainChorizo 1,983 Posted August 18, 2015 Unless something changes in health status btwn now and Dec 31 imo she seems like a bad deathlist candidate. I can understand throwing a Fidel Castro, Muhammad Ali,Olivia DeHavilland,Prince Phillip onto the list with similiar iffy prospects because they are iconic enough figures that they would be huge misses if DL committee passed on them. Mrs Garret on the other hand doesn't seem like a big enough name recognition to put on here unless she was a sure thing ala Sam Simon or close to one ala Martin Crowe

Toast 16,151 Posted August 19, 2015 Couldn't this have been posted in the US sitcoms thread? I think she is famous enough to have her own thread. I don't agree. I've never watched either of those shows, and have therefore never heard of this actress. This is why we end up with threads like the DJs one which hadn't been posted in for eight years.

She might be put on the Deathlist this year or the next. Many people have her on their DDP teams or personal lists. And lets face it, she'll probably be dead within 8 years, so the thread won't be empty THAT long.
CaptainChorizo 1,983 Posted August 19, 2015 Couldn't this have been posted in the US sitcoms thread? I think she is famous enough to have her own thread. Her only famous role is for a teen sitcom that ended close to 30 years ago. If she has her own thread why not everyone who has starred in a CW show. Maybe someone can start a thread for Xander and Willow from Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Lewd_Squirrel 331 Posted August 20, 2015 She was on two 70s/80s sitcoms, not one. ;)One is a spinoff of the other.
Lewd_Squirrel 331 Posted August 20, 2015 The actress that played Willow was also in How I Met Your Mother, and in the American Pie film series.

Just made one.Pretty surprised he didn`t have one.Certainly one of the biggest figures in British Television still around from the 70`s and 80`s.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted October 26, 2015 Go buy her new book about her life and see if she talks about her impending death -- or whatever reason it was besides the mere fact she is 89, that allowed her to have a thread that still hasn't been deleted.
