Hm. Thinking an obit could be very plausible for Qureshi. He got an obit from The Washington Post, so he could very much get an obit from the UK.

Jiroemon's ability to sniff out terminal cases in other languages might not be too much help for DDP purposes, but is a godsend for a pool where all that's needed for a QO is any coverage in a reputable news source, regardless of language.

I swear there was a point where it seemed everyone I bumped into had had to read The Ghost of Thomas Kempe for school, and that's going over a few decades worth age differences there.

Booker Prize winning author not Deathlisty?   I'd say she is. 

 

I've known of her for years, despite not having read any of her books, including the one you mention.  Very recently I did read one - The House In Norham Gardens.  I read it because it is set in Oxford, and I think we're all drawn to books about places we know.  It was really disappointing though  - nothing really happens, and apart from a fleeting visit to the Pitt Rivers Museum, there was not much sense of being in Oxford.

One of Britain's most successful authors John Le Carre turns 86 today and I think he's reaching an age, such is his fame, that he should at least be on the committees radar for consideration even vaguely!
