Full Telegraph and Guardian obits for Weldon.

The extent to which they're prepped would suggest the media were anticipating her death.

She was 91, had been in the news recently and in reported poor health so she fitted the category of having lots of pre written obituaries even if they didn’t have any tip off’s.

Hanif Kureishi currently hospitalised in Rome after "sudden illness". Article is paywalled, so nothing specific about his conditions.

Kureishi stable. Seems it's not his time.

I've just finished The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks. The book concerns a small town in New York State in the aftermath of a school bus crash that has killed fourteen of the town's children. It wasn't very funny.

American writer Russell Banks, known for Continental Drift, The Sweet Hereafter and Cloudsplitter, being reported dead aged 82:

Edmund White (b.1940) co-author of The Joy of Gay Sex is HIV positive and had two strokes in 2012 must be worth keeping an eye on.

Edmund White, a favourite punt on here since the early 1990s, has just outlived the co-author of "The Joy of Gay Sex".

Charles Silverstein (wiki) died on January 30, aged 87 or 88.

Surely a NYT obit on the way?
