The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey

Recommended Posts

Lib Dems are gearing up for a General Election which they will campaign on the platform of rejoining (not leaving) the EU. This could be interesting because they could essentially become the opposite of UKIP a single issue pro-European party. Like UKIP it may gain them some friends in particular constituencies.

If Corbyn goes this might be more significant.

New Tory leader by 2nd September.

It is really strange thinking that the prospect of Theresa May as Prime Minister has gone from a bad to a good thing.

My very outside bet is on David Davis.

Almost made PM ahead of Cameron, well respected, articulate and a Brexiter, something May wasn't and isn't.

Isn't he seen as a bit of a grand standing maverick after his principled resignation to fight a by-election on his own?

Some people are talking about Dominic Rahb

He might struggle to get through the knockout rounds which are voted for by MPs. Might have missed his chance.

All this, all of it is just the Establishment trying to give the people a good kicking for voting the way they did. We are still in the EU now, nothing in fact has changed now.

The markets take any story and twist it to their own advantage to make money for themselves.

Nobody is sad about Labour politicians resigning their cushy jobs..they are sad that they are not resigning their cushy seats. They say the party is out of touch with its supporters - no, YOU are out of touch with your potential voters, get out of politics altogether.

People are further sad I'd suggest that not more heads have toppled in the Tory party. The craven dishonesty and self-interest demonstrated by the majority of the Cabinet is being rewarded by themselves staying in post to try and implement the very thing they disagree with the most.

For example, the supposed threat now is put up taxes on everyone to make up for bankers tax leaving the country. Not what the people want, you're moving too slow on tax collection on the people who have been and who are supposed to be paying tax NOW.

Nobody is talking about the opportunities a Brexit vote gives because they don't believe it.

Anyway, Cameron's about to speak, rant over for now.

Leadsom's admitted she's considering a bid. Stock has risen in the referendum campaign and will almost certainly have a big part to play in the new government. Boris is standing, Gove isn't, May's exploring her options. George hasn't ruled himself out either, bless him, but he hasn't got a cat in hell's chance. The short campaign is good for Boris, as it's harder for those seeking to unite support to beat him to mobilise effectively in time. Nominations open Wednesday evening and close Thursday noon, so those considering their runs have got to get their shit together in short order.

Ah, maybe the French would like us to come over and dig up and repatriate the thousands of our young dead soldiers, you know, the ones that liberated them because they could do it themselves, and bring them back home where they will be truly loved, appreciated and respected for their sacrifice.

F ucking cunts.

They did tell us a few years ago to do so.

French had their ass whooped in a month during the WWII, they were the worst army and the worst fighters and their asses were saved by Britain and US, but they had the incomprehensible right to figure as winners of the war and to held a part of Germany and Berlin after it. Plus, judging by the language they speak, they are all homosexuals.

Incidentally drol, given your background, I'd have thought you'd have a wee soft spot for the French.

It was one of their Aces that shot down planes from the most countries in WW2 iirc (switching sides helps).

The campaign to re-run the Referendum is well under way. If not actually orchestrated by Brussels then it is surely actively encouraged, as has happened in other EU countries; we have to vote again until we get it right.

Incidentally, in a 'normal' election the ballot papers are retained for a period of time in case of recounts etc, is this the case with the referenda papers? As I am sure you are aware, your ballot paper can be traced back to you, a less benign government could well check how you voted.

To save you the trouble, I voted out, as I did all those years ago. I am nothing if not consistent.

"May you live in interesting times" A Chinese curse, I understand.

Actually their club supporters made a fair fist of doing that to Manchester a few years back.

By all means compare football hooliganism with dying on foreign soil to push back and defeat the Nazis in France and the rest of Europe during the Word Wars, you probably think Anzacs day is to remember the last time you lot beat England at rugby.
