I'd have voted yes regardless. My opinion was that it was a referendum not an election and politics should not have came into it.

Nah, my sigh was that I'd really like both sides to get on with their fighting, rather than have another process point delay things. We've been through all this up here with independence but at least we had two years which included time to sort out the legals. Nice of Cameron to say it's the biggest decision for several generations to come and only give us 4 months to discuss.

 

As I may have said before, I'm undecided and may not even bother voting. Good attitude for the guy who started the thread, huh?

The other Wednesday morning, I helped out with doing a bit of leafleting for Vote Leave. Only an hour and a half but spoke with a number of householders on the way round. Only came across two people who were adamantly pro stay in the EU and did not want the leaflet. Compare that to about the other 8 or so that professed leaving would be the best option and you can easily see the numerical split in the two camps. If only the poles would show such a discrepancy then I could sleep better about such a monumental decision that I guess will engage only half of those with the power of the chance to express their opinion and flex their political muscle.

I reckon turnout for the referendum will be somewhere in the high 80s percentage wise. If it's above 83.9% it would beat the 1950 general election turnout to highest UK wide referendum/election turnout (the Scots take the crown of highest turnout in a UK election or referendum at 84.3% last year since figures appear to be available - easily at least - (1918) in England. Although I reckon that's extremely optimistic as the 1975 one garnered only a 65% turnout.

 

I still reckon, similar to the Scottish referendum, turnout will pale any general election in recent years.

The politics of fear. The last ditch grasp at your basest emotions in the hope of overcoming your rational response that we've all been sold down the river on Europe for the last 43 years.

It may very well serve the corporations and their tax arrangements extraordinarily well indeed and as a result also those who own them by virtue of shareholding (cough, eton and oxbridge politicians, cough), however the relaxation of 'trade barriers' seems hard to swallow as a 'Joe Blow' when you still can't bring back unlimited fags from a cheaper source and sell them here for a small profit as an individual (as an example). Oh no, that's not 'trade' and 'relaxation of embargoes and tarriffs' that's 'smuggling'.

 

I could be entirely wrong about all this, but as I've said before, somewhere above probably, finding unbiased information is extremely hard. And even if I am wrong, you aren't going to convince me with this shyze about terrorists, you've used this ploy as a last resort far too many times.
