While I don't recognise the name, the face is instantly recognisable.

I'm not sure how convincing the Scottish accent was, however!

His accent came and went, that's true! Sometimes it was quite fierce, other times it was soft Edinburgh/Linlithgow.

Hugely popular as a teacher though.

Jo Kendall played Roland Browning's mother on and off in Grange Hill. Sorry to hear of her death, RIP.

Also of note Peggy Skilbeck in Emmerdale Farm.

Guardian Obit for actress Jennifer Piercey, who appeared (I believe) as the character Claire Scott's mother in Grange Hill: https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2022/may/01/jennifer-piercey-obituary

Probably better known as Nick Lyndhurt's mother in The Two Of Us, but a fair old acting career and yet another 2022 Peter Bowles connected death.

Seems to have been a publicity shot from a number of photos taken to promote The Reunion: Grange Hill, coming up on Radio 4 on 14 August: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001b3tw

Was on Buzzcocks and Not Going Out only in the past year I think.

This is a huge shock. Most significant Grange Hill death of the year.

Died from complications of Bowel surgery. Sadly not the first notable person to die that way.

The nuisance of Equity not making it clear who they're listing in their in memoriam section...

Is British actor Richard Beaumont (wiki) deceased aged 60/61? It would appear so, but there are multiple people by that name on IMDb. *sigh*

The actor played Tiny Tim in Scrooge.

EDIT: Found this, which confirms it is indeed the Scrooge actor!

This is sad news. Richard Beaumont played the part of David Sellers, who was one of the crowd of protesting pupils known as the Student Action Group who tried to get the school uniform abolished in Series 2.

Long running British children's programme (1978 - 2008) featuring innumerable actors, some of whom went on to greater things, others who actually learned some life skills!

I've created this topic for those whose best known roles or those whose only roles were in this series, or who may have done other things but don't fit. Inspired by the sad early death of Terry Sue Patt earlier this year.

And now we have our second Grange Hill related death of 2015, with the passing of Maggie Riley at 79.

Death Notice: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/195704/riley

She played Mrs McMahon to Bill Treacher's Mr McMahon. Here she is right at the start of Series 2, Episode 17:

Delving a little deeper, turns out she was Natalie Renford at the time of her death, she had a GoFundMe here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-natalie-fight-rare-cancer

She had an Instagram which I cannot access and probably some stuff on FB.

Is it my imagination or have quite a high percentage of Grange Hill child actors met an untimely end?
