Derby Dead Pool 2016

Recommended Posts

So does that mean the Programmes section is deemed acceptable for QOs? IIRC Kitty Kallen had her death mentioned under similar circumstances to Tomita, in the strapline of a BBC Programme, though it was decided against at the time.

Looked her up, and her death was not mentioned in the strapline. That's why.

No. It is here and if you expand the strap it does mention her death. https://forums.deathlist.net/topic/8613-derby-dead-pool-2016/?p=256424

Hmmm...so do we include Kitty or exclude Tomita?

Edit: Tomita now removed from the round up pending a ruling by the esteemed TMIB.

Hmm. Seems like I contradicted myself!

If we're going strictly by the letter of the law, then it's video link (as in Sky News etc) and both Kallen and Tomita are not and I did say that BBC programmes was not on the list. There's enough bait on the bbc website for any fish to get hooked onto as it is...

Perhaps I had too much Christmas sherry!

I'm reversing the decision - Tomita remains obit-less!

Something tells me there will be a record number of teams next year. Everyone is asking now "Who's next".

Actually, the reason why I came to this site in the first place was because of all the celebrities dying. Found the site after Prince's death, and joined after Ali's death.

Very strange for me as my plans for the update keeps changing with each stiff. Parfitt, then Michael now Fisher, who will get top billing?

As Lando once said "this deal's getting worse all the time..."

Make it a two parter at the end of the year...

Yup, that's on the agenda. Tommorrow then Thursday and at the same time tackle the entries. Or do I have one mega update tomorrow so I can leave a whole 2 evenings for the entries before I go away for the new year?

Decisions, decisions...

He's currently sub nr. 1 on my main team, in case someone dies on New Year's Eve.

Been reading the DDP entries all year and only just noticed Chris Eubank's entry. Made me chuckle anyway.

Imagine being a minor celebrity, waking up on 1 January*, logging into DDP, finding out you are on the David Quantick team

Bucketlist time? Shotgun in the shed?

*yes I know the teams are unlikely to be up by then, but still

First of 2 updates - up to Christmas Eve...

Also a massive update on the List of the Missed just in case there's a few names you think are still breathing...

According to my own calculations, my main team gets 116,36 pts this year, which in an ordinary year would be enough to win. But I expect this year will be furious and absolutely record-breaking because of the more liberal distribution of names (of which I was probably guilty of). My B-Team gets 100.52+whatever Fast Eddie Fryer would get if I knew his age. My wish is a top 10-place in my second year. I probably need another year to fine-tune my obitability sense and medical knowledge.

Hmm, so The Love Boat will probably end up with 119 pts. I guess my math was fairly correct. Top 10 place as well. But the "B" Team performance was weak.

Does this count as an obit for my unique pick of Tony Beard? Not from the UK myself and not sure if this is considered a "local" page - apologies.

2017 will be my 1st year in play so noob question. I only submitted one sub and he is now in play because of a death in the main 20. Should I submit other sub now or wait and see if another name is needed?

I don't mind either way. I just didn't think I'd need more than one sub given when I submitted my list.

T-Mib: has the increased DL usage and the increased press attention on celebrity morbidity this year seen a jump up in entries?

It'd be interesting to see those stats Spade, although I doubt tmib'll be able to yay or nay that question until after the entry period closes. My three teams Kervorkian clinic, Cobbles to a Coffin and Shot in the Dark (the first twenty celebrities that came to mind are in). Given the state of this year 5 substitute's have been provided for each team.
