Ahem, CNN has Biden ahead by 16 points now:

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/10/06/politics/cnn-poll-biden-trump-2020-election/index.html

Whatever Trump is doing here, he's only appealing to his very core voters. And those 35% are not enough. For the rest, it just looks reckless. You can see him on camera. It's terrible to watch.

I think he should be fine, with having the world's best possible healthcare available. But the way he treats himself opens him up for something much worse - and at the very least he might be left with long-term lung damage. And we will see that at the next debates, which he apparently wants to attend.

How many points ahead was Clinton predicted back in 2016 if anyone knows?

Think Bidon's current lead is pretty-much unprecedented in living memory. That's according to an expert on Radio 4 today though all of them qualify this with some observation that with Trump involved there are no certainties

Just as a reference if Biden was actually ahead by 16% points it would be 8 points greater than the Bush 88 margins and just 2 points under landslide that was Reagan 84

Interesting since the more objective reporting suggests Bidon's bunker campaign was useful and that much of his "support" (certainly the stuff that's pushing his poll ratings) is largely down to anti-Trump people, many of whom aren't Democrats by nature but will - apparently - vote

Not only that, but a Monmouth poll (A+ rated pollster) has Biden winning Pennsylvania... by 12 points!
This is not 2016. Biden will almost certainly win. The only question is how big the margin will be.

When abouts? She averaged 3-6 points in November 2016 and finished with 2 in term of the national lead.

Yeah, but will he win the subsequent gun battle of the enraged supporters?

Big I hope. I watched John Oliver last night, and he was highlighting the various issues with the election process this year (huge lines at the few open polling stations, mail-in ballots being rejected for various spurious reasons, the time taken to verify and count the huge increase in absentee ballots, for example) and suggested that there is no way the full results will be known on Election Night.

The problem with this is that Republicans are more likely to vote on the day (because they don't think it's dangerous) and Democrats by post (because they do). So on the night, Republicans may be leading in early counts in Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, etc. but then there would be a so-called 'Blue Shift' in the following days as absentee ballots are counted.

Trump's already said on Twitter that the results must be announced on the night or else it's a fix (I paraphrase, but, scarily, not that much). Unless Biden's lead is sizeable enough that he's already in front in the electoral college, regardless of a few potentially close states to rack up the score, this could be even more horrifically messy that it already threatens to be.

Just about to settle down for late morning coffee and read an exclusive in the Independent where they're quoting the teenage "rogue" daughter of a Trump aide who's apparently spilling the inside story on the level of despair amongst the inner circle regarding his behavior since he got Covid

The teenage daughter of Kelly-Anne Conway being the one in question. Can't stand Trump or her mother working for him and is now furious because Kelly's got Covid and given it to the daughter. It's the reason Conway stepped down from the White House, because her daughter posted a rant on social media about what a terrible mother she was and how awful her politics were. It's a fun household all round - her husband is a big Trump critic and talking head. Not that any of this devalues what she says, by the way, it's only those who can see through the bullshit who can tell us what's actually going on in there.

Early doors and it is Florida but doesn't look too promising for old Trumpy.

Early door hysteria. If the liberal media and the Democrats are not careful, they'll create voter complacency amongst their natural voters, and also galvanise a voter turnout from the right.

They should shut up. 90% of Dems nationally planned to vote by post, 90% of Republicans planned to vote in person (pretty sure those are the numbers I heard somewhere, but even if they're a bit off, the trend is clear). If the Dems can't win big on the postal counts then they don't have a chance anyway and, even if they are winning big, nothing's remotely certain until election day, moreso in Florida than most places.

Buzz is currently around the fact that he hasn't been seen in person for almost 48 hours giving credit to the theories that Covid is giving him a spanking.

I'm still not getting excited though.

Indeed - surely some reality television crowd have already made these hunkered down funsters an offer, right?
