To be fair, it's nowhere near that simple. He's one of ours in the overstated and self-destructive way that we also love(d) George Best and Gazza

Oh aye, and Windsor may have a point!

I don't believe such accusations have ever been thrown my way before...

Being a cunt is above politics.

Can we fucking please stop with this left vs right bullshit?

Being a solipsistic, delusional, dangerous, lying cunt is not a left/right thing.

Yeah, I mean, this forum has had folk from all across the political spectrum, mostly co-existing, for nearly 2 decades now. Probably because whenever someone shows up and tries to make the politics tribal, they get told to FUCK OFF...

A very good point and one thing that unites us is the fact that point-scoring deaths are no respecter of political or religious views.

You can be a complete cunt (Sutcliffe) or a generally respected old figure (Parsons) - everyone's united in the end by the Reaper.

Reminds me, did you ever read Paul Donnelly's Fade to Black? Feels up your street. My copy, before I lost it in a house move, had an intro by Michael Winner saying "my only regret is I wont get to read what Paul says when I snuff it myself!"

Fade to Black - no, just Googled it. I probably should, especially because it surely contains some oddballs like Ed Wood along with the greats. Read some of the Daily Telegraph obit collections which I love. Torygraph or not, they delivered when I had Larry Wallis as a unique pick on DDP and he was in the Pink Fairies and once signed to Stiff, so I can't see him leaping from the office stereo at the Telegraph.

Oh aye, and that Trump story - BBC have it now: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2020-55524838

Can we not have a political debate blow up in a thread again, do you really want to summon Kenny and his multiple sock accounts?

Please don't laugh at this question, but is it possible to impeach a President even after they've left office? If so Trump could be first (ex) President to be impeached twice !

Okay, we won’t laugh. We’ll merely sigh at the sheer inanity.

Personally I dislike him because he is a lying, spoilt, arrogant bastard . He is incapable of engaging in reasoned debate when challenged and resorts to sacking those who dare to give him advice which might be contrary to his deep seated prejudices. The world will be a much better place without this jerk around. A complete car crash of a lesder and his attempts to find extra votes in Georgia have truly exposed the type of person he is.

Some are well loved but mourned (Clive  Dunn) others are not and loathed. (Sutcliffe)

Trump is a Sutcliffe.

No.

The process of impeachment is to remove a sitting President. He can be prosecuted for crimes once he has left office but I suspect the investigation trail is so convoluted that it would probably take more years than he has left on this Earth

No, impeachment is reserved to the President, Vice President, and federal judges.

.

He could still face another trial after leaving office.

I don't expect Biden's DOJ to do anything, though. He'll probably take the Gerald Ford route of moving on from a scandalous presidency. Although I do not expect a pardon of any kind.

However, Trump could face state charges in New York, which is where his largest worries should be. A pardon would not work there unless it is from Gov. Cuomo, and the State Atty. Gen. in NY seems interested in pursuing charges against the entire Trump family.

And a pardon won't help him out either of his last stunt.

A pardon is automatically an admission of guilt.

It only works in federal crimes and not state climes.

This shakedown attempt is allegedly a state crime.

The state of New York also has a bone to pick.

News has emerged that an official aircraft used by Donald Trump in the past is scheduled to arrive in Scotland the day before Biden's inauguration.

I think we now know why Sturgeon went for full lockdown today...

Can't be Trump because  he's entitled to use Air Force One till jan 20-unless he's going for the resign early and let Mike Pence pardon him option...I guess in that case not even being in the country when Biden is sworn in is the type of childish petty thing Trump would do ..

I thought Air Force One was a designation rather than an actual aircraft?

Pence can't pardon him from state crimes - like attempting to interfere in the election in Georgia. I'm seeing the dream option here where we do a fugitive exchange, letting them have Trump in exchange for Anne Sacoolas!

It's both. The converted Boeing 747 used as the official Presidential plane, with offices and kitchens and room for the press, etc. is Air Force One. (That's it's name in popular culture). But technically only because the President is on board. Any plane carrying the President has the call sign Air Force One, just as if they carry the VP they're Air Force Two.

But (for once) I believe Coffin Lodger is correct that he has use of the Presidential plane up to leaving office. Usually an exiting President's final act after the inauguration ceremony is to be flown on Air Force One to their usual residence. In Trump's case, presumably, that would be Mar-a-Lago, but technically I guess it could be anywhere he wants. But who knows what will happen with this guy.

I was a fan of Trump ( one of the few I think on deathlist) and wanted him to beat Hilary and succeed. But His bombing of Syria was his first strike, his second strike was not building the wall (fence doesn't count) and him talking about injecting disinfectant was the final strike for me. Kinda hard to defend that.

I'm not left leaning but I guess policies I support like social healthcare (NHS) and a safety net for the most vulnerable and poor some may perceive as left leaning but in reality they're common sense . But I think alot of people on the left haven't come to terms with the fact communism and socialism as just as dangerous as far right politics and there's benefits to having certain conservative policies in place . Protection of borders and deporting criminals is common sense not conservativism.
