If you thought that the departure of Donald Trump meant the world would be a more peaceful, safer place, it might be time to think again ! It looks like China might be about to invade Taiwan ! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-55788359 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/01/24/chinese-fighter-jets-enter-taiwan-air-space-second-day-tensions/

Anyone know 11 semi-famous Taiwanese people - I've got a DL Cup team to pick!

What does that have to do with the health of Donald Trump?

Possible War?

This is just your standard tuesday. China is testing the US and pushing their limits. They have done that since WW2.

This is how the superpowers shows their strength. In what reality will two of the biggest nations go into full scale war for Taiwan?

Get off the internet. Its causing you too many worries like the nuclear thing that was just as unrealistic.

Acquitted for the second time. This time, 7 Republican Senators crossed party lines to vote to convict him.

Aye, another chunk of damage to the Trump goods. All this blather about him "running" in 2024, ain't gonna happen IMHO

He'll be 78, his diet and intake of soft drinks is stupid for a guy his age and level of fitness, multiple business problems assail him and we've likely got a thread here that'll keep bobbing back to the top. Trump will not outlive all the current surviving presidents who preceded him and will likely snuff it before Bidon

Really? Biden has looked very ill for months. His eyes appear black and recessed, probablly due to strong medication for is heart and other medical problems. Trump is obese and needs to improve his diet and lose weight asap. However, barring unforeseen serious illness, it's likely that he'll outlive Biden.  It's both amazing and very sad that America, with its huge population, had such a dreadful choice of candidates last year.

Nah, you’d be mistaken if this hinders Trump’s chances at the 2024 nomination. Yes some Republicans voted convict him but the fact that the overwhelming majority of them acquitted him really showed that the Trump base still makes up a good chunk of the Republican Party.  It’s truly his party now.
People don’t want to admit this, but Trump truly changed the political landscape forever whether you like it or not. He has a charisma that really hooks some people towards him as a character, and really changed the makeup of the Republican Party. Before 2016, Republicans were largely a party made of wealthy suburbanites. Now it has really shifted towards a much more white working class party.
One thing that people didn’t realize (including myself until recently) was just how close the election was. Apparently had 90,000 voters not voted the way they ultimately did, Republicans would’ve won ALL 3 CHAMBERS. That’s truly something to think about.
So yeah, Trump is probably going to run again in 2024, and he’ll probably win the Republican nomination because voters really like him. Only way he doesn’t get the nomination is if he dies.

He lost by more than 7 million votes, being an incumbent. Incumbents always have a bonus.

Joey's referring to the narrow margins in Wisconsin, Georgia, and Arizona. Trump would've won the Electoral College, and reelection, if he won those.

Which just goes to show Biden's campaign focus on 7 states was smart politics - didn't he win 6 of them?

Yeah, I know, but without the strange electoral system of the usa it wouldn't even be close, both times.

Now the things are even worse for Trump, because he is no longer an incumbent and him inciting the capitol riots have made him even more hated.

He has diehard supporters but that's not enough. And i think that these supporters will start being bored too.

While it’s true it wouldn’t be close without the electoral college, the electoral college doesn’t look like it’ll get removed any time soon. Also, I said that he is almost certain to get renominated, not necessarily win a second term. However, if the dems end up fucking up the next four years in office, then that could easily allow Trump to win a second term. I know a lot of people think that we can move past Trump and any chance of reclaiming the White House due to the shit he’s done, but you can’t really underestimate his chances in the future. He still has his grip on the Republican Party. A second term is definitely plausible in 2024. Don’t think that it isn’t the case.

Aye, but...

The man's a hopeless narcissist so handing over the dynasty will be hard and he's got a ton of legal fights and the like coming up.

Another major change in the political landscape people miss when they talk about Trump's support is the way he mobilized millions who don't really give a shit to come out and vote for Biden. Pollsters suggesting the vote in that direction was shored up by a lot of "anyone but Trump" voters. Republicanism has changed for sure and if that party doesn't embrace the hard and reactionary right Trump, or someone like him will start a new party which might - ironically - be a gift to the Democrats.

Rubbish. There’s all this talk of Biden looking ill, but he doesn’t. He just looks old. He’s 78. That’s old. Trump’s only 3 and a half years younger, almost twice the weight, lives on burgers and Coke and has the stresses of a term as President, an election loss he’s furious about and, depending on who you believe, fears of lawsuits and money woes. He’s a massive stroke waiting to happen. Fuck Biden, Carter’s the only ex-Pres he’s likely to outlive.

For all Biden's 78 year old vigour I'm thinking fucking might be one thing that'd bring him rapidly onto our radar

Four years is a long time in politics and without his social media accounts to be a bullhorn to people and especially to keep the media dancing to his tune, I am sceptical he will maintain his grip as this administration's four year term progresses.

Aye, he makes the most noise when he's worried he and his team can't back up his claims with owt substantial - witness that debacle at the garden center between the defeat and departure.

The current fusillades of fulmination and latest "greatest witch hunt in history" claim are all a bit insubstantial anyway.

Loads of fun waiting in the wings by way of people chasing him for money (which he now has from the donations to fight the stolen election) and a slew of females claiming sexual assaults.
