Sir Creep

The dead of 2016

There hasn't been any significant deaths since Prince, so by my statistics there should be one soon. Sean Connery maybe?

By your statistics. Pfft.

By Sir Creep's statistics he has 15 hits this year to your 1. Come correct before you dabble in prognostication.

Yes, you make it easy because you kill the people on your list! I know you pushed Douglas Slocombe down the stairs! I know it!

I say we should celebrate the fact that celebrates aren't dying.

Margot was 'significant'...

Also Siné is significant.

Bob Bennett and Afeni Shakur were pretty significant.

None of these compare to Prince, though.

Read my post again. It's not related to DL. I meant overall. About my list....I don't include everyone who has a Wikipedia page. We don't have the same definition of famous.....

You're taking my Prince thing to literally...famous in my definition means someone who would be mentioned on TV and someone who's not pushed at the bottom of a news page but rather gets some attention. I don't even know who Bob Bennett is and I read about Afeni in Billboard but never heard of her before. I don't know all American, UK or Australian public people. I'm just interested in those who get world attention.

Celebates, Celebrities or both ? But then again, if celebrities don't die doesn't it make this forum somewhat redundant ?

There's only so many threads one can open discussing when Zsa Zsa Gabor will drop dead.

Japanese composer and electronic musician Isao Tomita, best known for his album Snowflakes Are Dancing, died on Thursday. He was 84.

Here's his cover of Clair de lune by Claude Debussy.

Ah, so an interesting boring Tomita related tale, then:

UK copyright law used to protect the works of composers and writers (literary and song wise) for 50 years after their death. In 1976 when Tomita released a version of Holst's The Planets his surviving relatives rated it such a mauling of the great man's work they insisted it be removed from shops, despite the fact it had already reached the lower end of the charts and was generating income for the Holst estate. The copies were duly returned, warehoused and released back to shops in 1984 when the copyright expired. In 1996 UK law was brought into harmony with the law of the EU meaning copyright protection now extends to 70 years plus the remainder of the calendar year in which the creative talent dies (so if you go on 1 Jan you - near enough - get 71 years of protection). By this time Holst's relatives apparently either saw sense or didn't give a shit, so they got income from the last dregs of sales on Tomita's version of The Planets into the early years of this century.

Off to finish the next book now, if creating a best-seller kills me the future generations of my family will be grateful.

Chris Mitchell: Former Clyde, QoS & Falkirk player dies aged 27

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36241355

Ah, the old 'nice n Chrispy' cremation comment is somewhat long overdue.

...and there it is ! (Never heard of the chap in question mind...)

So unlike his playing career Chrispy isn't going to be the first man entering the box?....

After his TV daughter Patty Duke died my parents were astonished when I told them Schallert was still alive. Now here we are about a month later.

Considering the lifestyle and amount of smoke in the air in jazz clubs back in the day it's amazing how many old jazzers see their eighties and beyond
