Helen the Shark is recovering after thieves removed her from her pool - and disguised her as a BABY. Despite the incident being filmed, the suspects left while pushing Miss Helen in a pram filled with water and bleach. The house in which Helen was found "looked like almost a mock up of [the San Antonio Aquarium]".

A Florida animal hospital's beloved community alpaca dies after driver feeds it Doritos, Cheese Nips, and peanuts.

The animal hospital said a man in a blue car has dumped food onto the field multiple times a week and that they had spoken to him multiple times.  Most recently, he left three boxes of animal crackers, a large bag of Doritos, two boxes of Cheese Nips and two bags of whole peanuts.  The hospital said this was the first time peanuts were dumped, and the youngest alpaca overindulged.

A gorilla named Fritz, one of the oldest of his kind living in a European zoo, was euthanized on Monday in southern Germany.

Officials at Nuremberg Zoo said the 55-year-old's health had deteriorated steadily over the weekend — to the point where he could hardly move at all.

Former Rabbit Hash Mayor Lucy Lou has died.

The red and white border collie who served in office from 2008 to 2016 died Sept. 10. She was 12.

Lucy Lou lived her entire life in Rabbit Hash.  Since her political career took off Lucy Lou attended many charity events and served as spokespet for a women’s crisis center.

Her term as mayor ended earlier than planned in 2016 when she voluntarily left office in order to help her hometown raise funds to rebuild the Rabbit Hash General Store. The 1831 historic building was destroyed by fire in February 2016. With the help of Lucy Lou and others, the Rabbit Hash Historical Society was able to rebuild and reopen the landmark within a year.

A man bitten by a lioness at Fresno’s Chaffee Zoo was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night after he was rescued by zoo security officers, officials say.

The man, who was bitten in the foot, is expected to survive.

The incident took place about 11:30 p.m., according to Lyn Myers, general curator at the zoo. She said security officers were aware that someone had entered the zoo grounds and were looking for the intruder when they heard someone calling for help from the lion enclosure.  The man apparently crossed over a four-foot barrier fence near the enclosure, then began climbing a mesh fence in front of the exhibit when a lioness grabbed his foot. There are two lionesses in the enclosure, Zamaya, 4 years old, and Kiki, in her mid-teens. Myers said she did not know which animal grabbed the man’s foot, but the lioness released him when security officers arrived.

This sucks.

A critically endangered Sumatran tiger pregnant with two cubs was found dead in the Indonesian province of Riau after being caught in a pig trap, authorities said Thursday, in the latest setback to a species whose numbers are estimated to have dwindled to about 400.

The head of the local conservation agency, Suharyono, said the tiger, aged about 4 years, was reportedly trapped earlier this week, escaped and was found dead on Wednesday in a ravine about 150 metres (500 feet) from the trap with part of the snare wrapped around its body.

It was pregnant with male and female cubs, said Suharyono.

Now some good news:

Toothless, a green tree python, was rushed to the Mount Ommaney vet in Brisbane, after she accidentally swallowed her lower jaw bone while feeding.

Because it was her first time feeding since laying eggs, it's understood her jaw was weaker than usual.  Toothless' jaw became dislodged and collapsed into her throat.

Thanks to the vet's quick thinking, a brace was made out of a paper clip and molded to fit around the outside of her jaw, helping it align it into place.

A grizzly bear has mauled a mountain biker to death in a national park in the US.  The attack took place a mile away from a campground in the western part of the Glacier National Park in Montana.

The victim has been named by Montana authorities as US Forest Officer Brad Treat, 38.

Even a grizzly bear needs a little Treat once in a while.
