Eclipse, a dog who became famous for taking the bus by herself in Seattle, has died. She died two days after her Facebook page announced she had cancer.

The official Twitter account of the King County Metro (bus) confirmed her death.

In 2015, Eclipse became a local celebrity when she was spotted taking the bus by herself to a nearby dog park.

Eclipse learned how to ride the D-Line all on her own when she took previous trips with her owner, Jeff Young.

Her first trip started when Young took too long to finish a cigarette by his Queen Anne apartment so Eclipse hopped aboard the bus before Young could join her.

According to the NBC affiliate KIRO 7, Eclipse would even have her own bus pass attached to her collar.

RIP

Elephants have trampled a man to death in India after villagers killed a 1-year-old calf that belonged to the herd.

Villagers in Korba in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh had allegedly killed the calf earlier in the week and buried it in Bania village.

The calf's herd of 44 elephants entered the nearby Devmatti village on Thursday and trampled Pintawar Singh to death while he had been tending to his cattle.

The burnt-out Phoenix cat, which was found under rubble in Andreevka near Kiev in April.

The cat was picked up by the staff of a pet supply shop in Kiev.

Phoenix has been treated and is now feeling well!

I like this. It’s certainly closer to ‘antics’ than all the death notices that should be in a separate thread, as discussed before.

Nope, not this thread. This thread is for animals doing anything that doesn’t involve them dying - the Falling Fauna thread is for that.

And as this one was reported in the aforementioned thread already, you can have a :clivedunn: to go with your telling off.

A rare Cuban crocodile was found dead in its enclosure at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute after apparently attacking an electrical outlet.

The zoo announced the 10-year-old animal’s death in a news release and said Reptile Discovery Center staff found the crocodile in its enclosure on the morning of Dec. 17. Officials said in the news release that “Staff deduced the crocodile was attracted to a replacement electrical outlet and attacked the electric infrastructure in the habitat. … Known for their aggressive behavior, the crocodile pulled the electric equipment off the wall and bit various pieces.”

You know you can post these in this far more suitable thread. This thread shouldn’t have any more death mentions now that this thread exists:

I couldn’t disagree more with either of the two statements you made.  I post 50% of the animal stuff if not more, and will use the ‘appropriate’ thread.

I know you’re an extremely unintelligent creature who struggles with the basics of English language, but deaths and antics are different. Animal deaths go in the thread dedicated to them and animal antics go in this one. We’ve told you the facts, at some point you will accept them.
