Death Impends 7,979 Posted January 28, 2013 Ed Koch hospitalised for the third time in recent months with fluid in lungs, but feeling better. Ed Koch released. He expects to be back in his office on Monday. Not quite up to his expectations, as he's back in the hospital on Monday.

Death Impends 7,979 Posted February 1, 2013 Interesting tidbit regarding Koch: His tombstone, which he planned out a few years back, has the final words of slain journalist Daniel Pearl on it. Koch's death occurred on the 11th anniversary of Pearl's murder.

chicago103 41 Posted February 2, 2013 Ed Koch indeed dead. regards, Hein I declare Ed Kock the most significant death of 2013 thus far. That won't hold for the entire year I am pretty sure but I can't think of anyone else of greater importance that has died in the world so far this year, being a former mayor for 12 years of New York City, one of the biggest cities in the world, arguably the financial capital of the world and the home of the United Nations is a big deal. I declare that this forum is not America centric so, to that end, he is NOT the most significant death of the year "so far" So there.
Death Impends 7,979 Posted February 2, 2013 I can understand some discussion of the most notable deaths at the end of the year, but having random members quibbling over "most significant death thus far" every couple weeks just makes it seem like BCAlum never left.

Hmmm, user with American username in AMERICA IS THE CENTRE OF THE WORLD shocker. If we are entirely objective, Nguyen Khanh, the former Head of State and Prime Minister of Vietnam, who also happened to sucessfully lead his tiny army against the biggest superpower in the world at the time gets my vote over someone who once ran a city for a bit.

Similarly, the average Daily Mail reader may not identify themselves as being European....
