Former Labour MP for South Bedfordshire and then Cannock, Gwilym Roberts, dead at 89. https://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-hubs/staffordshire/2018/04/05/well-respected-former-mp-and-councillor-dies/

That's 8 former MPs elected at the 1979 UK election who have died since the start of this year. Quite something.

No source for this one, but there are rumours Mao Zedong's secretary Li Rui is in critical condition following a stroke. He was profiled by BBC  last year when he turned 100.

High profile Hawaiian politicians always seem to die in office.

Congressman Mark Takai died of pancreatic cancer in 2016.

Congresswoman Patsy Mink died of viral pneumonia in 2002.

Senator Daniel Inouye died of respiratory complications in 2012.

I would keep a look out on 93-year-old former Senator Daniel Akaka and of course Mazie Hirono.

It's cuz those pesky Hawaiians keep re-electing them.  When a voter pulls the lever for an ill candidate, it's like pulling the switch for an electric chair!

Well damn. That must go into the record book with the Schwarzenegger and Loretta Lynn threads on convenient mentions of quiet picks.

Li Rui's condition has apparently improved a bit, he is conscient and taliking with his family.
