Political Frailty

Recommended Posts

Canada has seven (Clark, Mulroney, Turner, Campbell, Chretien, Martin and Harper) former PMs living.

I wonder how many times Her Majesty accidentally called our present PM Pierre. She's survived eleven of Canada's PMs.

Do her staff instruct the UK PM to write its name on a 'Hello My Name is' sticker label on official visits?

I was never alive a toddler at the time Pierre died and even I find myself calling him Pierre.

Most of us in Western Canada just call him 'that fucker out East'.  No name necessary.

Yeah no. :lol::lol:

Just a vote share reminder for Islington North (Corbyn's seat) result in 2017

Labour -   40,086 (73.0%)

Conservative - 6,871 (12.5%)

Liberal Democrat - 4,946 (9.0%)

UKIP - 413 (0.8%)

Independent - 208 (0.4%)

MRLP - 106 (0.2%)

Socialist - 21 (0.09%)

Communist League - 7 (0.03%)

======

Labour Majority of 33,215 (60.5%)

======

Swing Required = 30.25% Lab to Con.

Johnson is in realistic danger though should hold on to his seat. Uxbridge and South Ruislip

Conservative - 23,716 (50.8%)

Labour - 18,682 (40.0%)

Lib Dem - 1,835 (3.9%)

UKIP - 1,577 (3.4%)

Green - 884 (1.9%)

=====

Conservative Majority of 5,034 (10.8%)

=====

Swing Required = 5.4% Lab to Con

Still unlikely, he starts with over 50% of the vote and new party leaders usually get a bounce in their own seats, plus sitting PM's attract extra protest candidates which merely splits the opposition vote and increases their majority.

I wonder if it's a  bad omen for the govt that the man who was Tory party chairman at the time of their catastrophic 1997 election defeat has died at the start of this election campaign ... :mellow:

Then again maybe it's a good omen !

Cabinet ministers are like no 9 buses.You wait months for one to die then 2 go within 3 days ! I know it's the election and there's meant to be political balance but Frank Dobson has taken it a bit too far !  I will miss his hamster like face .  :(

I always thought him very meh.

You’ve got to be a pretty forgettable Labour candidate to lose to bloody Ken Livingstone in a mayoralty race in the Labour heartland of London.

Alexander Opeyemi Akinyele, Nigeria’s former Minister of Information is dead.

The death of the Ondo born public relations specialist was announced by his son.  He said on his Facebook page that his father died after a brief illness on Thursday night but did not state where he died.

Fantastic poetry in his Wikipedia entry at the moment, will probably be cut out by editors soon though:
