Earliest living female heads of state and government (monarchs not included):

Living female heads of state/govt from before the 1990s:

1. Isabel Peron (b. 1931) President of Argentina 1974-1976, first female president.

(Violeta Chamorro (b. 1929) was a member of the Reconstruction Junta 1979-1980, later President 1990-1997)

2. Vigdis Finnbogadottir (b. 1930) President of Iceland 1980-1996, first democratically elected female president.

3. Gro Harlem Brundtland (b. 1939) Prime Minister of Norway 1981, 1986-89 and 1990-96.

(Maria Lea Pedini-Angelini (b. 1954) Captain Regent of San Marino 1981)

Out of these, Peron and Chamorro don't seem to be in good health. Finnbogadottir and Brundtland seem to still be active in politics. I don't know about Maria Lea Pedini-Angelini, but she's much younger than the others.

Often forget Peron is still alive. Should be a Deathlist 2022 candidate if she makes it.

Mahathir Mohammad, notorious former Malaysian nonagenarian Prime Minister turned 96 a day ago. In a really good shape apparently mentally and physically.

Some Malaysian political figures who could be or are in worse shape:

Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali (b. 1925) Mahathir's wife, looks around ten years older than her husband.

Sirajuddin of Perlis (b. 1943) Malaysia's king 2001-2006. Looks a bit like the late King of Tonga George Tupou V, fat and walks with a cane.

Abdullah Badawi (b. 1939) Malaysia Prime Minister 2003-2009, hasn't looked great for a while. Subject of a death hoax a while ago.

Muhyiddin Yassin (b. 1947) The cherry on top of the cake. Malaysia's current Prime Minister since Mahathir's resignation in March 2020. Yassin was diagnosed with early-stage pancreatic cancer in 2018 and it was treated with chemo, hospitalized at the end of last month with diarrhea and was in hospital for atleast five days.

Edwin Edwards has entered hospice care, although he insists it's not because he's at death's door.

I've always found Edwards a strangely fascinating character, in good ways and bad. Despite it being common knowledge he was a crook long before he went away for it, he seemed to keep succeeding because he was somehow still able to convey (whether accurately or inaccurately) that he was a highly dedicated and driven leader who did good things for his state (though the main reason he was able to get re-elected as governor in 1991 was because his opponent was David Duke).

Edwards was also famous for all of his one-liners, though like with many people famous for that, I'm guessing the further back in time you go with them the less you can actually prove which ones he actually said.

Another Jyrki Kasvi update:

https://puheenvuoro.uusisuomi.fi/jyrkikasvi/nena-maha-letkun-arvoinen-uutinen/

Apparently a part of his small intestine slipped outside through a hernia or something (???)

His liver metastasis has shrinked, meaning that the experimental medicines are working. He has passed his life expectancy by atleast a month and it's nearly six months since he entered hospice care. Seems like he wants to spend one last summer on his summer cottage.

Jyrki Kasvi update, from blog post four days ago:

Says that his cancer is being monitored "all the time". He's on his summer cottage but there's a hospital 7.5 kilometres (4.6 miles) from the cottage.

Mentions that the experimental meds he now uses won't likely be any use in fighting the tumor spread in the future and he'll switch to new experimental meds hoping to live longer. Writing an autobiography.

A by election has been triggered in Hammersmith and Fulham  after it's longest serving councillor   Labours Colin Aherne  died aged 77 from a heart attack.

Yes, technically they are/were politicians, but will these mean anything to anybody outside of their immediate political circles?  Can we stick to more Caroline Aherne, rather than Colin Aherne?

Article about Jovenel Moise's funeral that's going to be held on 23th of July.

Moise's badly wounded widow is still being treated but is expected to show up at the funeral.

Article also mentions that Jean-Bertrand Aristide (b. 1953), Haiti's first democratically elected president (served 1991, 1993-1994, 1994-1996 and 2001-2004) is finally back home after over 20 days of covid treatment in Cuba.
