https://navajotimes.com/reznews/kelsey-begaye-fifth-navajo-nation-president-dies-at-70/

5th Navajo Nation President 1999-2003 Kelsey Begaye has died aged 70.

Third Navajo Nation President to die during the last 11 months. This means that all except one of the Navajo Presidents and Vice Presidents (Two people who were both President and VP, two other Presidents and three VPs) from before 2003 are dead, the one living being Peterson Zah, the initial Navajo Nation President 1991-1995.

Not to mention that the last Chairman of the Navajo Nation 1970-1989, Peter MacDonald (also a WWII code talker) is still living and 92 or 93 years old. He was removed from office and sent to prison for corruption until being pardoned by Clinton in 2001 on his last day in office. Still looks amazing.

More drol fodder: Khaleda Zia, former female PM of Bangladesh has survived COVID, but is still extremely ill, with heart, kidney and liver problems and .... arthritis.

http://www.uniindia.com/~/bangladesh-ex-pm-khaleda-zia-extremely-ill-needs-better-treatment-mirza-fakhrul/World/news/2424265.html

However, Bangladesh is one of those countries where every former PM seems to be in prison, and she has been, too. So maybe it's a little exaggerated.

https://www.observerbd.com/news.php?id=326564

Khaleda Zia won't be celebrating her 76th birthday today as "her physical condition is not well"

Article also mentions that she isn't interested in celebrating birthdays anymore.

Afghanistan's Vice President Amrullah Saleh has declared himself rightful leader of the country and vowed to fight on against the Taliban, saying he will not surrender to them or flee "under any circumstances".

That sort of fighting talk might make him a good deadpool pick before too long

He looked ready to snuff it about 50 years ago when still a TV presenter! One of those permanently gaunt looking people.

Famously said in 2015 that Labour would hold Grimsby even if they put up a "raving sex mad paedophile" as a candidate.

That dated well.

Jyrki Kasvi update, from blog post four days ago:

Says that his cancer is being monitored "all the time". He's on his summer cottage but there's a hospital 7.5 kilometres (4.6 miles) from the cottage.

Mentions that the experimental meds he now uses won't likely be any use in fighting the tumor spread in the future and he'll switch to new experimental meds hoping to live longer. Writing an autobiography.

New picture of Kasvi posted on his twitter, still healthy enough to participate in a tv show to talk about his life. Looks very great for someone with incurable cancer who went into hospice care nearly seven months ago.

Incredible to think, he was born before the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and the subsequent events that led to the Empire's destruction. Little did mum or dad know what was in store for them all when they were giving birth to him...

His grandson and heir apparent,  Ferdinand Zvonimir Maria Balthus Keith Michael Otto Antal Bahnam Leonhard von Habsburg-Lothringen is currently in the lead in the LMP2 at the 24h of Le Mans. Just wanted to share this useless information with you all.

That "Keith" seems a bit incongruous.

Ahmad Massoud (1989-), son of mujahideen guerrilla commander Ahmad Shah Massoud (1953-2001) vows to fight on against the Taliban and says that he won't surrender. Massoud and Saleh are in the Panjshir valley with around 2000-10000 soldiers including remnants of Afghanistan's army (national army, some special force soldiers, commando corps members, air force remnants, Massoud's army (he claims to have 9000 soldiers), independent militias, local civilians and others)

Defence Minister Bismillah Khan and former chief of staff 2020-2021 Yasin Zia are also there.

Also, Karzai and former Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah seem to still be in the country, trying to negotiate with the Taliban.

Discharged. Both of them.
