All the former Presidents of that country are over 80 and the current one is 72...good pool material, maybe.

The former Heads of State/Presidents being:

Could be counted: Nuno Fisher Lopes Pires (1930-) and Narciso Mendes Dias (1935-) members of Spinola's National Salvation Junta of 1974

António Ramalho Eanes (1935-) President 1976-1986

Jorge Sampaio (1939-2021) President 1996-2006

Anibal Cavaco Silva (1939-) President 2006-2016

Details about Jin's death made public.

He was living in a residential complex for former Finance ministers and cadres. Jin was wheelchair-bound and had an extensive history of heart disease. His wife died 10 days ago.

He was burning "paper offerings" for her on the balcony when fire went out of control. Anyway he died due to the thick smoke or from a heart attack induced by asphyxiation. Quite sad way to go.

Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Nqaba Bhanga hospitalised after a car accident:

https://www.citizen.co.za/news/south-africa/breaking-news/2599836/nmb-mayor-nqaba-bhanga-faces-culpable-homicide-probe-after-fatal-late-night-collision/

Probably drunk driving, as he had just celebrated his birthday party... Two people died in the crash.

Allegedly a girlfriend-beater and said to have a very serious drinking problem.

This also happened five days after the leader of his party (Democratic Alliance) announced that Bhanga will be the candidate for the Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay in the next local government election that will be held in October.

Koivisto's widow Tellervo hospitalized after a fall resulting in a broken hip:

Tellervo Koivisto is also a politician, a former member of parliament and Helsinki alderwoman. She's become very frail lately. (Has also had mental health issues for her entire life but those often aren't a large problem at 91.)

Rare public appearance today:

Former Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen (1941-) who has had a ton of heart attacks and health scares during the last 10-20 years also attended and to suprise everyone, gave a 15 minute speech using three languages while standing. Here's a video of the event:

Ahmad Massoud (1989-), son of mujahideen guerrilla commander Ahmad Shah Massoud (1953-2001) vows to fight on against the Taliban and says that he won't surrender. Massoud and Saleh are in the Panjshir valley with around 2000-10000 soldiers including remnants of Afghanistan's army (national army, some special force soldiers, commando corps members, air force remnants, Massoud's army (he claims to have 9000 soldiers), independent militias, local civilians and others)

Defence Minister Bismillah Khan and former chief of staff 2020-2021 Yasin Zia are also there.

Also, Karzai and former Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah seem to still be in the country, trying to negotiate with the Taliban.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-58443679

Taliban claimed yesterday or today that they've conquered the valley...

Panjshir President Amrullah Saleh says that the Panjshir rebels are "in a difficult situation" and surrounded with Taliban cutting phone, internet and electricity lines. Sounds like in a week or two he'll be hanging from a lamppost...

Also has been mentioned that Ahmad Zia Massoud, Karzai's VP 2004-2009 is also in the valley.

New picture of Kasvi posted on his twitter, still healthy enough to participate in a tv show to talk about his life. Looks very great for someone with incurable cancer and who went into hospice care nearly seven months ago.

Jyrki Kasvi told Helsingin Sanomat today that his cancers have reduced. However later this day he was told that multiple of his cancers are active and this growth can't be stopped with radiotherapy. Mentions that there are still some experimental meds that could work.

Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi, South African politician and leader of the National Freedom Party has died. She was 59:

https://www.enca.com/news/zanele-kamagwaza-msibi-passes-away

kaMagwaza-Msibi, once a former high-ranking IFP politician, was one of the people touted to become Mangosuthu Buthelezi's successor in around 2006 as she was the party's second-in-command back then. However her relations with the IFP soured and she left the party in 2011 to form her own one, the NFP. NFP, when it was created, received around 2.5% of votes in the 2011 elections. k-M was the Minister of Science and Technology from 2014 to 2019 (and also suffered a stroke in that position in 2014) but by 2019 NFP's popularity had diminished so much that it only received one seat in the provincial elections, 0.35% of the votes in total.

She likely died of covid. 93-year old Buthelezi outlives another one.

Panjshir apparently captured, atleast according to taliban...

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/9/5/afghanistan-will-likely-erupt-in-civil-war-top-us-general

Mohammad Fahim Dashty, Panjshir spokesperson has died aged 47. Either shot or killed by a Pakistani drone (according to defense analyst Babak Taghvaee).

Close associate of Ahmad Shah Massoud, survived Massoud's assasination in 2001. Also Abdullah Abdullah's nephew.

Four (or according to some sources only two) major commanders have been killed, one of them apparently being Saleh Mohammad Registani.

Met Lord Tebbit yesterday at an event. Looked very pale, frail, walking stick and shuffled slowly. He was also noticeably hunched. His hearing was poor but he spoke with ease. Marbles are still there, but his body is noticeably deserting him. Get him on the list for next year.
