Earliest inaugural hit in a long time, RIP. First of many or could it be a sign of another year that rapidly slows down? :rip:

Rest in Peace, a legend. Knew he was frail but wasn't expecting him to be the first hit.

I knew dropping him from my teams would be the death knell. Bah.

I couldn't be bothered picking him anywhere, either.  Hate picking the quiet elderly.  Hate it more when they hit for others, though.  RIP Mr. Poitier, one less place setting at the dinner table.

The "Guess Whose Not Coming to Dinner" pun has been officially granted to the Derby Dead Pool organisation by the UN...so back off DeathList :shoot:

Yeah, I don’t think they really cared about that…

DL can still go for the grammatically correct "Guess Who's Not Coming to Dinner"

If it was summer I would make a dying in the heat of the night gag. However, RIP to a wonderful actor in the  cold of the evening.

Poitier was the last surviving male star of AFI'S 100 Years... 100 Stars.

Sophia Loren (b. 1934) is now the last name standing.

Wow. Looks all the nominees (people that got nominated, but didn't make the final list) on the male side are all also dead.

The women's side for nominees still has Claire Bloom (90), Ann Blyth (93), Mitzi Gaynor (90), Marsha Hunt (104), Angela Lansbury (96), Piper Laurie (89), Gina Lollobrigia (94), Rita Moreno (90), Margaret O'brien (84)

Ok, lets put Queen Elizabeth on this place for 2023, we will see if the prophecy is true

Just a thought - all of the actors who played teachers in "To Sir with Love" lasted long.

Poitier has died at 94. Geoffrey Bayldon made 93. Edward Burnham reached 98 and Faith Brook 90.

Patricia Routledge is currently 92 and Ann Bell (83) and Suzy Kendall (85) are also still with us.
