Shameless update, if you care (I'm basically emptying my vault - not planning on submitting it a third time):

Aundrea Bannatyne - tweeted that she's lying dying, listening to Ed Sheeran

Gemma Nuttall - went to Hallwang Clinic and they healed her, miraculously, very interesting to see if this actually works

Bobby Zarin - miraculously recovering, indeed the Monty Brinson of 2018, probably dying in January as well

Emma Houlston - still nothing

Cheyann Shaw/Clark/Tunt - posting cute dog videos on YouTube. Healed

Heidi Loughlin - doing chemo, cancer under control, ok for now

Leanne Hock - was last seen getting an award for Best Mom and raising money for alternative treatment in Mexico

Sophie Sabbage - bad news last week, going down in a couple of months

Juan Pedro Franco - has lost 218 kilos of weight, good for him! Still on oxygen, though. The organs were tortured pretty badly.

Laura Saull - heavy chemo, in pain, going down eventually

There's 1-2 more hits coming, I guess.

Change Cheyann Shaw etc - Dead: https://heavy.com/entertainment/cheyann-shaw-death/

Ah, those shameless days...

I'm stretching the term 'famous' here, but Brian Fraser, the technical producer of the morning show at Ottawa's top news/talk radio station, whose two year battle with blood cancer was documented on that show, has died. He was 26. Fraser had received well wishes from the likes of Mario Lemieux and Drew Brees while battling leukemia. His death was acknowledged by Ottawa mayor Jim Watson and several sports organizations and broadcasters.

At the risk of going all Sir Creep on everyone, if there was any thread I'd supported being locked on this forum it is this one.

It's existence is futile. Why do we need to post unfamous people? Anyone who truly fits in here is now no longer accepted in any of the important deadpools (barring Deathrace) so it's not "helpful" in that regard. It is just posting sob stories of the unknown for no reason other than, tbh, grief porn.

Also, and this is the bit that fucks me off even more, it is increasingly misused. The person above was a radio producer, apparently. Never heard of him. None of us likely had. So, if you are going to post about his untimely death, there's the Canadians thread. The radio thread. All kinds of places to put that news properly if we must hear it. Because if he was the main producer on the main radio show in Quebec, to the point of getting obits in Quebec, he did have some local "fame" even if you wouldn't expect anyone in the UK to have ever heard of the poor sod.  In the past, this has been the go to thread for journalists, TV extras, and writers - again, if you think they are notable enough to mention on the forum for that, use those fucking threads. Just because the press and media are ignorant fuckwits most of the time now does not mean we should be.

Basically, people either shouldn't be posted in this thread, or should. If they shouldn't, find the right fucking thread to post them in. And those who should be posted in here really do have no place being noted on forum. This is a relic of a free for all age in deadpooling which is thankfully part of the past now, and as such should be consigned to the past.

Because too many fucktards were opening non famous people threads.  So this thread was created just for them.

The question was somewhat rhetorical, Paul! :D

Point being those people aren't DL forum worthy of mention in their own threads or in here.

To make an entirely pointless non-statement, I agree with both of you. Detest this thread with a passion @msc but I also see PB’s point... if you don’t allow a space for people to occupy their urge to post crap then it just gets spread out elsewhere. Nobody needs to know/cares that Lady Gaga’s dogsitter was shot and wounded, but if FFBI or Family of the Famous didn’t exist, it would just get spread out elsewhere. I much prefer clicking “Mark Forum as read” on the main Forum navigation upon seeing  someone has posted in here rather than clicking on to pages of interest to me eg “Dead of 2022” and having to read it.

I feel it’s also worth mentioning, the use of this thread and the general Forum reporting of updates on “make a wish/cancer mum” types is way down thanks to you guys banning their candidacy over at the DDP. It was clearly the right decision. Discussion of them is both uncomfortable and dull. It’s only February and there’s been a noticeable drop in users posting about them.

And justly so, imo. It was only reason I took on the role, so FFBI picks could be got rid of.

Although my main grump was that if radio producers, or writers, or actors should be posted on the forum, they should be posted in the radio, or writing, or acting threads, not in here. That we've cut down on FFBI picks doesn't meant folk should try and find names to put in this thread.

Alt obits post was the first since January 6th and as Msc says shouldve been put in the radio thread, if indeed it even needed posting.

So this thread will just drop off naturally as those mentioned in previous posts die.

Dickie O's done nowt much since his stroke so he's famous for being ill. We could, like, merge his thread with this one!

As I am checking on my personal survivors and find some news on Yoo Sang-Chul and the like...

Sophie Sabbage had her 5th round of radiotherapy:

https://www.cancerwhispering.com/blog/more-myself-by-being-less-myself

Her situation is "stable" with four brain tumours. Well, she's had 60-70 brain tumours so far (!!!!).

It impairs her brain functions, but far less than the doctors thought it would. I think it's acutally quite incredible.

Damn, one of the few living people on my list I gave a 100% probability of dying in the next year was cancer mum Megan Scotcher:

https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/local-news/young-mum-two-small-kids-4386355

But then, thin month, she has been charged with fraud for receiving charitable donations, meaning, she probably faked her terminal cancer:

https://www.ripleyandheanornews.co.uk/news/crime/derbyshire-woman-charged-with-fraud-offence-3198127

Now, while I need to update the probabilities of my longlist eventually, right now, I only have three people with that 100% left. Bob Dole, Kat Bjelland, and another cancer mum, Lauren Coyle, from Australia, who might actually be dead already.

Lara Casalotti, who made international news and longlists through her cancer diagnosis in 2016, has now died 5 years later at 30:

Back then, she needed a stem-cell transplant and rare blood donation, and she got it. Taht gave her a few more years.

Paul Lamb has died:

I seem to recall he might have been a DDP pick at some point, but I may be misremembering....
