Only Famous For Being Ill And Dying

Paul Lamb has died:

I seem to recall he might have been a DDP pick at some point, but I may be misremembering....

Yer men Lamb and Conway have bed-blocked on my teams over the years, proving so disappointing I've dropped them over the last couple of years - the only consolation being another Lamb(alike) will doubtless step (sorry, I meant roll) up to replace him.

Are we kind of getting ready to shut down this thread?

Seems like a lot of these old names are going lately.

As I am checking on my personal survivors and find some news on Yoo Sang-Chul and the like...

Sophie Sabbage had her 5th round of radiotherapy:

https://www.cancerwhispering.com/blog/more-myself-by-being-less-myself

Her situation is "stable" with four brain tumours. Well, she's had 60-70 brain tumours so far (!!!!).

It impairs her brain functions, but far less than the doctors thought it would. I think it's acutally quite incredible.

Sophie Sabbage died around 1 October:

Apparently Zoe Ball mentioned her on Pause for Thought.

Need I say - a DDP Pick.

Well, she was the Honourable Sophie Ankaret-Edwards (subsequently Sabbage) as named in the British Peerage Guide, due to her Tory Cabinet minister father (and well connected grandfather) - so an upper class version of the cancer book writer.

Anyhow, the last sentence surely suggests a QO for Jellydead at some point, I'd assume.

She would have been in my orbit for the next year. Her final blog post - already a couple of months old - was very foreshadowing.

We are kind of running out of those "well-established" cancer campaigners though, aren't we?

Sophie Sabbage getting closer to a QO: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/252665/sabbage

Might this count for Sophie Sabbage?

A description of a Radio 2 programme.

I think it does.

Edit: That one might have existed since they put the show online.

A pivotal DDP pick once, as it was the one that made me go from merely disliking ffbi picks to wanting them banned outright. The straw that broke the camel's back as it were.

Anyhow, poor sod.

I long felt she would prevent my 2018 DDP team from seeing a clean sweep until the 2050s or so, and unlike the Ryan Buells of the world was hoping she'd prove me right. Going to be much quicker than that now, poor lady.

Alex Flynn, fundraiser for Parkinsons after being diagnosed in 2008 and who was aiming to climb Everest next year, hasn't made it: https://www.alexflynn.co.uk/2021/11/07/alex-flynn-dad-soulmate-brother-friend-adventure-runner-sadly-passed-away-while-raising-awareness-in-nepal/

Just in case for some unknown reason he qualified for the DDP next year and someone fancied a pick there.

Through she is really spouse of a celebrity rather than FFBI. She only got coverage because of who she is married to rather than because she was selling her cancer story directly.

Tiffany Youngs - popular(ish) pick hereabouts - is in The Sun today crediting a radical combi of starvation diet, cannabis oil and general cleaning up of her food intake for sending her terminal cancer into remission.

That said, she's saying great things and feeling good - no medical expert is quoted as saying she's better

Well maybe her time is running out.

Former England and British & Irish Lions hooker Tom Youngs has confirmed his retirement from professional rugby with immediate effect.

Youngs' club Leicester confirmed earlier this season the 35-year-old had taken indefinite leave from the Tigers to care for his wife Tiffany Youngs who is battling illness.

Youngs' wife was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2014 and three years later, was told her illness would be terminal. In 2018, she then heard she was in a state of remission.

Seems like disqualified DDP pick Robyn Free, contestant on "Beat The Chasers" died last month, without QO, but there's something local:

Possibly not the only name where the committee actually did the players a favour by disqualifying them, as there was also "Williams Sisters physiotherapist" Esther Lee, who was covered in the press last week - still alive - and her cancer is actually slightly shrinking and she's doing much better than a couple of months ago:

Tiffany Youngs, wife of Rugby star Tom Youngs, was a DDP pick a few years ago. She wouldn't qualify now, but her cancer is back, and it looks really bad:

Tiffany Youngs dead: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-10896843/Tiffany-Youngs-wife-ex-England-Lions-hooker-Tom-dies.html

Don't think she now qualifies for the List of the Missed @Death Impends and she wouldn't be eligible for this year's comp?

Correct. At least one team tried sneaking her in this year to no avail.

Poor lady, RIP.

A survivor, until now, of my very first DDP team.

Linda Nolan and DJ Casper still going strong though.

I would love to know who I picked in my first year in the competition.

I think I picked Noah, Samson and Barabas.  I fucked up with Methuselah though.
