Are you having a laugh?

Laugh and Ricky Gervais being used in the same context is very rare

I think Michael J. Fox is one of those few celebrities whom absolutely nobody hates.

Maggie Smith

Robin Williams (or at least he was)

Jim Cummings

Bill Nye

Jimmy Carter (while there's enough about his presidency to criticize, I've never heard people who actively dislike him personally)

And Attenborough indeed.

No. I’m looking past his “The Office” days. Everyone seems to love him now for his animal activism and his brutal Golden Globes takedown!

Oh no they don't. Never liked him. A sanctimonious smug git who thinks he is far funnier and far more significant than he actually is.

Can I suggest

Bob Mortimer

Michaela Strachan

Michael Palin

and the recently deceased Murray Walker.

Cannot stand Bob Mortimer and Vic Reeves, though Shooting Stars did have a few funny moments.

He's deceased but I have to mention Kenny Baker. I happened to meet him a couple years before his death in London and he took his time to have a conversation with me about Star Wars stuff even though he didn't really have to. Just an all around great guy and many others have said the same thing about him too.

Agreeing on Sir David Attenborough.

Charlotte Jordan Evans.

Charles Garland (IMDB). I wouldn't consider him a "celebrity", but he is one of those people who was involved in many a major BBC Production during the 70s, 80s, and 90s without stepping very far into the limelight. A wonderful, funny man who I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking to earlier this year.

Sir David Jason.

We're into 'national treasure' territory now aren't we? Restricting it to the still living:

Carol Kirkwood

Joe Root

Mary Berry

I agree that Michael Palin is front-runner though.

He doesn't seem to be in late stages though? I think he could live many years more but he seems to have declined a lot during the last few years. Hard to

Not sure if these two cases can be compared, MJF could suffer from a different type of the disease  but Singapore politician Chiam See Tong has been suffering from parkinson's for a quite long time and looked like this in 2019:

And is still alive. Muhammad Ali looked much worse around four years before his death, but again not sure if these cases can be compared. The memory loss is a bad sign but then again Otis Taylor has suffered from parkinsons dementia for circa 20-30+ years

He's obviously still all there mentally but his motor skills are on par with a man who has drank 20 pints of snakebite on a night out. The complete opposite to Muhammad Ali's decline.

Aside from his late ex-wife, Tom Hanks gets glowing reviews from anyone who meets him. Another name that also comes to mind: Henry Winkler.
