Recent interview with Jill's husband actor Alfred Molina .He does not talk about Jill a lot but indicates that one of the reasons he feels ok with his decision to get back on the theatre circuit and travelling with his stage work recently is because his presence makes no difference to Jill as shes lost all awareness he is there. So sad. A bastard of an illness.

I’d forgotten she was married to him, as I suspect she has too :P

Re-runs of The Gentle Touch start this evening on Talking Pictures, freeview 81. It will be good to see Jill as I remember her :)

Currently being re-repeated. Was watching Episode 1 there, Leslie Schofield* as the husband. I thought "wow, Schofield in a leading role, he's usually bumped off in things early" when 20 mins in, he gets shot dead!

*Same age as Jill, still going, heavy drinker iirc, maybe worth a deadpool punt in a year or two.

A shame to say the great Jill Gascoine has died, although that is a hideous illness she suffered from.

Also a shame to say she died a year she wasn't picked on the DL.

20% of the DDP Drop 40 dead before May. With Trintignant, Greaves, Gulpilil, Tom Smith, Trebek, Banali, Ginsburg, John Lewis and Prince Philip all still beathing.

I'm away to check the Drop 40 record...

Horrid news. Not my favourite actress by some distance, but beloved by a certain generation for The Gentle Touch.

RIP.

Sad news.

Interesting she died at home as I thought she was in a care home.

Also I toyed with putting her in my Eastenders theme team as she was cast as Glenda Mitchel but pulled out after a day or so of filming due to the early signs of the dementia. But as she did not ever actually appear I thought against it.

Was a decent MILF back in the day, didn't think she was that old.

Edit: And before any smart arses post she had no kids, fuck off!

Hmmm

Filmography includes voice over on Nudist Memories and an appearance in Confessions of a Pop Performer, did anyone have her on HPDP - I can see a spat kicking off there about whether she appeared in a porno if they did.

Dying in a care home is referenced in all the articles I have read?
