He did an interview on the Talking Pictures podcast a couple weeks ago and sounded like his old self. I’m calling shenanigans

He needs to identify the podcast so that we can judge.

Unless Mel decided to become a recluse at some point in the past 10 months, long after COVID was a day-to-day threat, then this is just another internet "free-thinker" believing whatever he's told by someone else.

If you actually bothered to look yourself you'd find out that the event hasn't even happened yet, I found that out simply by clicking on the link in the post above yours.

Since the event has now actually happened here's a short clip of it I saw on Instagram early today. Q&A was 2 hours long, he sounds great, clearly has no issues with his memory and from the video is quite stable on his feet. Could very easily make 100, safe drop in my opinion.

I think whoever shot this video should have picked a better antecedent though! Mel looks fine.

Old news at this point, but he looked and sounded fantastic at the Peabody Awards back in June of this year. I would never advocate dropping a major celebrity who is as old as he is, but I'd say he's hardly a top 10 pick for '25.

This might be the only thread among the 50 deathlist people where we post less than we could, because Brooks still goes out regularly, whereas, say, Cleo Laine, no news for years...

Laine's granddaughter (E. Dankworth) seems to be the only source to provide any updates on her. She usually posts a recent image (or images) of Cleo onto her Instagram page on Cleo's birthday. This one is the one of the Oct 2023 ones:
