January 24th will begin the election for the 13th President of Italy.

Let's see if Berlusconi can work it out or not...

Is it health related ?

No. It is just a political decision.

health has nothing to do with it, Berlusconi, barring surprises, will not die this year and I have some doubts even for 2023 (I don’t know why Giorgio Napolitano was not chosen).

in Italy the renunciation of the candidacy was not a shock at all, he was never seriously a credible candidate for presidency.

Berlusconi received only 7 votes in the first round of the election.

But no President has been elected, so tomorrow there will be another round.

There will be no elected president until Thursday according to experts, in large part there will be blank ballots papers or casual names like Rocco Siffredi

Indeed. This afternoon the right party will announce their candidates; and Berlusconi will not be among them.

Hmm maybe the committee did do well in picking him after all. UTI isn't necessarily too serious but he is in his mid 80's

I wuold be surprised too!

Napolitano will be 97 this June and he had a couple of strokes after he left the presidency. I am really impressed that he is sill alive...

No doubt true, but Berlusconi is internationally famous, Napolitano isn't.
