Thanks a lot! Looks like 1930 could use a whole lot more representation.

1942 stands out. Not sure why so many hits from that year in particular when others in the 1940s don’t have that many. Also Unabomber may join that year this or next year

1929, 1930 and 1934 are small now but all feel like they could have produced a dozen hits each by the end of this decade tbh.

Helen Rollason still being in the top 10 youngest DL successes over 20 years later is quite sobering.

Rollason is still the youngest overall.

For reference, here's the top ten in its entirety:

10. Kenny Everett (December 25, 1944 - April 4, 1995)

9. Laurent Fignon (August 12, 1960 - August 31, 2010)

8. Arthur Ashe (July 10, 1943 - February 6, 1993)

7. John Diamond (May 10, 1953 - March 2, 2001)

6. Ray Moore (January 2, 1942 - January 11, 1989)

5. Joost van der Westhuizen (February 20, 1971- February 6, 2017)

4. Simon Cadell (July 19, 1950 - March 6, 1996)

3. Tim Gullikson (September 8, 1951- May 3, 1996)

2. John Curry (September 9, 1949 - April 15, 1994)

1. Helen Rollason (March 11, 1956 - August 9, 1999)

Another outlier is 1945. Not only does it not have a single hit from that year, from the looks of it not a single name born in 1945 was on the Deathlist at least in the past 20 years!

Aye, but I mean at current Date of Birth, if she was 66 today, her DOB would still be in the top ten youngest.

Mutual hits for official DL, Crowdsourced DL, and Drop 40 by year:

2016 – Martin Crowe, Nancy Reagan, Muhammad Ali, Joâo Havelange, Bhumibol Adulyadej, Fidel Castro, Zsa Zsa Gabor

2017 – Joost van der Westhuizen, Ian Brady, Peter Sallis, Errol Christie, Glen Campbell, Bruce Forsyth, Tony Booth, Gord Downie, King Michael of Romania

2018 – Billy Graham, Tessa Jowell, John McCain, Denis Norden, Stan Lee, George Bush Senior

2019 – Doris Day, John McCririck, Johnny Clegg, Robert Mugabe, Leah Bracknell, Clive James

2020 – Terry Jones, Kirk Douglas, Genesis P-Orridge, Stirling Moss, Vera Lynn, Olivia de Havilland, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Nobby Stiles, Alex Trebek

2021 – Leon Spinks, Rush Limbaugh, Prince Philip, Jimmy Greaves, Bob Dole, Betty White

2022 – June Brown, Mikhail Gorbachev, Bill Turnbull, Queen Elizabeth II, Angela Lansbury, Jerry Lee Lewis, Leslie Phillips, Pelé

2023 – Ryuichi Sakamoto, Harry Belafonte, Rolf Harris, Tony Bennett, Bob Barker, Bobby Charlton, Henry Kissinger

2024 – Glynis Johns, Franz Beckenbauer

Sidenote: I noticed hits shared by official DL and Drop 40 but not Crowdsourced DL are quite rare. There have been only six such hits: Mary Tyler Moore and Jerry Lewis in 2017, Stephen Hawking in 2018, Valerie Harper in 2019, Shane MacGowan in 2023 and Derek Draper in 2024. As of 2024, the only living names who are currently shared by both official DL and Drop 40 but not Crowdsourced DL are Clint Eastwood, Willie Nelson, Prunella Scales and Buzz Aldrin.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Here is a list of what I believe are Deathlist’s top 20 most notable entrants of all time, and my reasons why:

1. Ozzy Osbourne - Last survivor of the original Deathlist

2. Kirk Douglas - Made the most Deathlist appearances of all time

3. Clive Dunn - Most favoured Deathlist candidate by the committee of all time

4. Ronnie Biggs - Candidate that made the most positive contributions to the Deathlist community

5. Queen Elizabeth II - Most high-profile Deathlist candidate of all time

6. William Hartnell - Died in 1975 but posthumously appeared on the 1989 Deathlist

7. Bette Davis - Died in 1989 but posthumously appeared on the 1992 and 1994 Deathlists

8. Andres Segovia - First ever Deathlist hit. Also the oldest entry on the original Deathlist

9. Andrea De Cesaris - Youngest entry on the original Deathlist. Notably died years later in the same circumstances as originally predicted by committee

10. Any One Beatle - Only Deathlist entry to consist of multiple people

11. George Lineker - Youngest ever Deathlist entry

12. Red Rum - Only non-human Deathlist entry

13. Helen Rollason - Youngest ever Deathlist hit by age at death

14. Joost van der Westhuizen - Most recently born Deathlist hit

15. Brooke Astor - Oldest ever Deathlist hit by age at death

16. Luise Rainier - Oldest ever Deathlist debut

17. Patrick Moore - Most Deathlist appearances for a candidate that eventually became a miss

18. Rose Kennedy - Earliest born Deathlist entry - one of only 8 to be born before 1900

19. John Nash - First Deathlist hit to die of non-natural causes

20. Peter Sutcliffe - First Deathlist candidate to die of COVID-19. Also a universally welcomed death

Rollason is still the youngest overall.

For reference, here's the top ten in its entirety:

10. Kenny Everett (December 25, 1944 - April 4, 1995)

9. Laurent Fignon (August 12, 1960 - August 31, 2010)

8. Arthur Ashe (July 10, 1943 - February 6, 1993)

7. John Diamond (May 10, 1953 - March 2, 2001)

6. Ray Moore (January 2, 1942 - January 11, 1989)

5. Joost van der Westhuizen (February 20, 1971- February 6, 2017)

4. Simon Cadell (July 19, 1950 - March 6, 1996)

Poor Rob Burrow will be furiously sucking through his straw thinking he could have been a contender.

A map of all deathlist hits there has ever been.

Overall, March has had the most hits, coming quite a bit ahead, at 43, followed by December and June drawing at 33. This is then closely followed by September, at 32.

(5- October, 28

5- February, 28

7- August, 27

8- May, 26

9- January, 25

9-July, 25

11- April, 23)

And coming in last, is November, where there has  only ever been 22 deathlist hits in it.

Some more things to add

There was no Deathlist hit in August, up until the 11th Deathlist in 1997.

From 2001 to 2005, there were no Deathlist hits in January

There has never been a year where there has been a hit every month of the year, the closest to this is 2020, with 10 months where there were hits.

The earliest hit ever was on the 4th January 2011, following the death of Gerry Rafferty. Excluding 1987, the latest first deathlist hit was in 1992, with the death of Jim Joel on the 23rd of March.
