Just finalising the update but I am convinced it isn`t right so can you all reply below who you should have points for?That way I can amend any mistakes rather than changing many times retrospectively.

All of these people. They all got QO at the time. If some of them don't, six months later, don't blame me.

So, there were 3 of us who had picked Jessi Zazu at the beginning of the year: me, drol, and The Dead Cow. Then, on June 30, all 3 of us subbed her out for better picks because assumingly (at least for me) she wasn't going to obit. Well, she then died (not that surprising) but got a telegraph obit on the very first day after her death. I'm certainly ruing my bad luck here, especially since I believe she's worth more than everyone I subbed in. :rant:

Sean is there any chance this game could go back to having squads of forty in the team next year?   Not a criticism as such, I just liked that format better.

Agreed. It really gives a lot more diversity and a little more forgiving if one of your punts fails. Plus, you can put a deadpooling favorite on there...

Gotta think of the runner. As I recall and it's not a criticism, Sean lost track of the deaths when it was 50 names per team and to be frank, so would I.

I'd say it's up to him, but I'd think hard about going up to 40 or 50 again. Most of the games on here with that number of names (barring By-Election - where the updates are minimal - and the Generation Game - which runs itself really) have failed.

And by hell I am hardly exaggerating.Cant say what the job is but it is testing me mentally.I knew being an adult would suck but never imagined the future could look so bleak.Cant even get xmas day boxing day or new years eve off.Am regularly feeling sick at the end of shifts and my patience is completely worn out.

Hmm, 14 hits so far. Plus 2 non-obits. I managed to replace two would-be hits (Daisy Berkowitz and Kevin Murray) and got two hits in return (Liu Xiaobo and Smith Hart). Bad decision actually.

I count 906 points for me, currently.

I think I have 13 hits and 859 points on the assumption it was the full bonus 10 points for each of Gord Downie and Liz Dawn.

My transfers to date have been even worse - subbed out Daisy and Tony Booth and only Smith Hart has died - if I'd done nothing I think I would be marginally ahead of you.:banghead:

In the absence of a proper score update can anyone challenge GC or me for first and second place currently? We don't really need Sean to keep score if we look after ourselves which will save him some stress.

Oh God, I forgot about the bonuses... but then it's only 20 pts, 10 for Downie, 10 for Van Der Westhuizen.... so I'm at 926 points.

Edit: For GrimUpNorth: Liz Dawn was not on the Drop 40. The same fate as Berkowitz.

Edit: I must have forgotten to count a person. Corrected score below...

Is there a bonus for unique hits? I'm trying to calculate a scoreboard.

@gcreptile

Sasha Lakovic's Yahoo obit.

Darren Sawchuk's Yahoo obit.

Vicki Letele DID have a Yahoo obit way back in May, but it's since been taken down. I linked to it earlier in the thread but that now redirects to Google.

Tracy McGiffin was 53 when dead, so 1963.

There was no obit for McGill though - poor show there.

@msc:

Ok, I'm going for speed at the moment, but now I checked and Sean wanted to let the more obscure names count as well, so I'll add their score for you and JiroemonKimura. I wasn't sure if only yahoo.uk counted. But apparently not (the obits are yahoo.ca). So unless Sean says any different....

I have to guess some birth years. Yes, I assumed McGiffin's birthday was yet to come, so she would have turned 54 in 2017 => 2017-54=1963. I also assumed Matt Callander already had his birthday. What about Darren Sawchuk?
