The 2Nd Crowdsourced Deathlist (2017 Edition)

SEE YA, CLEGGY!

5th June 2017

Actor Peter Sallis has died aged 96, to give The Crowdsourced Deathlist another success. Sallis was perhaps best known to TV audiences for his role as world weary philosopher Norman Clegg in the BBC smash sitcom Last of the Summer Wine. As the straight man to the comedy hi-jinks of the late Bill Owen and Brian Wilde (and others), Sallis was the only constant to appear in every single episode of the sitcom, over a period of 40 years. He had made a name for himself in the 1950s and 1960s playing Norman Clegg like parts (notably in the Doctor Who story The Ice Warriors, introducing the eponymous monsters), so it was perhaps no surprise that he was seen as the best man for the job. Especially when he showed up at the audition wearing the perfect Norman Clegg outfit, which he'd picked out of his own wardrobe. He also frequently had to stop fights between co-stars Owen and Wilde, despite the fact that Sallis himself would rather avoid conflict and just have a nice cup of hot chocolate instead: a world philosophy this host can agree with. Outside Holmfirth, Sallis obtained a whole new younger worldwide generation of fans as the voice of Wallace from the Wallace and Gromit cartoon series. Sallis was appearing in 4th place on the list, and is the 11th hit in only the first half of 2017.

IT'S A KNOCKOUT!

11th June 2017

British boxer Errol Christie has died, aged 53,  to give The Crowdsourced Deathlist another success. A noted amateur boxer, Christie was undefeated in 78 of 80 amateur boxing matches, and was the only Brit to win all ten titles in the sport. On turning professional, he had a similar explosive start, until a shock defeat to Mark Kaylor in 1985 left his potential unfulfilled. Post boxing, he took to coaching, and in recent years he was behind an acclaimed biography. He appeared in 41st place on the list, and completes a dozen hits for this years list before the Summer Solstice has even taken place.

I think the question should be wondering is how much will this list beat the deathlist record by. 13/50, and we're not even halfway done.

KOHL BUNKERED!

13/50

Helmut_Kohl_1989.jpg

16th June 2016

The thirteenth Crowdsourced Deathlist hit of the year is supplied by the thirteenth person on the list. Helmut Kohl has died after a long illness, aged 87. The former German Chancellor ruled West Germany from 1982, and was the architect of German reunification in 1990. He remained Chancellor until 1998, becoming the longest serving German leader of the 20th Century, and was a huge proponent of the EU and the Euro currency. The 2017 Crowdsourced Deathlist continues at a blistering pace: will it break the record?

So, as requested, the entire voting list for the 2017 Crowdsourced Deathlist, tidied up as much as possible.

Mark anyone in that list above who has died dead, so we can see who did people expect to die that were sent in but were missed.

I know the full list is very diverse in all, but one that surprised me in getting no votes at all was Gregg Allman. He seemed to be more ill than some of the other rockers on the list, so I am surprised he wasn't chosen but that's just my thought.

Also, make yourselves a new years resolution for next year: get Ozzy Osbourne in the top 50 next year. :D

One person I noticed passed away in 2017 is on 45 points-Elena Verdugo

Thanks for that. With so many names (there might be 500), I was bound to at least miss one.

Liz Smith (32), Tam Dalyell (14), Tony Davis (21) and Katherine Fryer (49) have all died as well.

Edit: Apparently I'm an idiot as I had no idea that there was a living Liz Smith... and there is!  :banghead:

She is, hence my denoting her as the "living" Liz Smith.

As opposed to the dead one.

I'm gonna take a guess and say Daniel Radcliffe will be the last survivor of the entire list above (who picked him btw?)

It seems I vastly underestimated how many points would be needed to get Thomas Schaffenacker on the list.

Is he dead? First things that come up when I search him were memorial awards that said he died during the 1983 - 1984 wrestling season.

He's a weatherman. He'd have been 4 in 1983.
