Ideas And Possibilities For 2018

Recommended Posts

It took a bit of working out who the 18 names you would drop are but having established that you have 8 names the same as my 10 (you keep Pierre Cardin and Javier P de Cue).

The others you drop are

Bob Dole - ok

Jimmy Carter - risky

Robert Mugabe - risky

QE 2 - ok (also risky but not based on her appearance)

Bob Barker - ok

Ian St John - dropping a footballer to replace with a whole team :-) - but ok

Hugh Hefner - risky

Bruce Forsyth - risky

Hosni Mubarak - ok

Gay Byrne - ok

which kind of confirms the point I was making - if a few more people don't die then the Committee are going to have to expel some high risk candidates.

Most notable german movie-director and Golden Globe winner Arthur Brauner turns 100 next year. One to take a look on, not sure if he is obitable.

Stan Lee now replaces Campbell to my keep list with Monica Vitti earning a place in the new ones.

Sandy Gall and Doug Ellis I would drop for just one year and bring them back permanently if they both start 2019.

Mitzi Shore, "Godmother of American comedy", is apparently really really fucked up at the moment and would be lucky to make 2018. If she's there at the start line, consider this post a gift.

My first dog when I was 4 yrs old was named Mitzi, and I always get a kick that that is actually a name someone would give a human.  Just like when will we be Dickless, it can't be long before we are Mitziless, as it's a pretty archaic name that can't possibly be used to punish some poor girl nowadays -- (See Fanny Flagg).  Other than Mitzi Gaynor there weren't too many I can think of, thought Mitzi Shore is certainly one.  Easy obit.

Are we absolutely certain Kirk Douglas is alive? Does he look like that on all his recent photos - I'm thinking Weekend at Bernie's.

Behind The Name says Mitzi is a German diminutive for Maria, so it's not really an individual name.  Not that that means much these days.

The German refugee in A Murder is Announced is called Mitzi. A great book.

Agreed. I've read most of the Marples/Poirots. I guess the most strange is The Big Four. Don't really have a favourite, but if pushed I might tell you...

Not actually read The Big Four.  Weakest of the books of her big two detectives (ignoring those written while she had dementia, of course) is Appointment with Death, which uses the same trick as another novel, but less well.

Christie's brilliant (ABC Murders is a big favourite) but alas, died in 1976, so not great for deadpoolers!

The grave of Agatha Christie and her husband.  Oddly, his profession has been spelled "Archeaologist".

If that was in one of her novels, it would be a clue to something.  ;)

No Ronnie Wood either...

Isn't he in remission w/ his lung cancer?

Why did Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood refuse chemo? Because 'this hair wasn’t going anywhere'

This hair will be going to a coffin if he refuses chemo.

Well, chemo can actually do more harm than good in some cases. Think Rob Ford, for example.  It might not be a bad call for Ronnie for now, but he'll still die sometime in the next 9 months.

Actually, I wonder if Wetton died because the new chemo he tried was rejected from his body...

Even if it works at first, going through chemo makes it almost certain that the cancer will come back at some point, and more aggressive than before. The pharmaceutical industry loves it.
