A bit of random Googling in search of obitable talent this week reminded me that James - God's cop - Anderton is alive and 85, and that Gerry (and the Pacemakers) Marsden fronted a band that included his older brother, Freddie (who doesn't appear to be dead, yet)

Freddie Marsden is dead. Guardian obit: https://www.theguardian.com/news/2006/dec/20/guardianobituaries.pop

Thought that was remarkable timing for Maryport for a minute there.

No shit - tbh I was in the National Portrait Gallery and it was their picture of the band that identified him as being alive. Cheers for that (edits longlist!)

Kenny Rogers looks awful. I don't think he'll make 2019.

I know it's been a couple of weeks since the news came out, but he's been on a Christmas farewell tour.  It does sound slightly ominous that he's on a farewell tour...

Surrounded by friends. Hmm, a care home we all know?

One we're all visiting soon too (as part of The Convention ofc)?

anyone feel pessimistic about Sean Connery? it's been a good few years since he decided to throw in the towel

December 31, 2018 - I am sure he will not pass that day

I wonder if an American sword swallower with a wikipedia page can get a QO:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Fox_(performer)

He has hepatitis C, liver cirrhosis and "tumours":

Tough news to swallow - he's dead.

What about Carmel McSharry? 92 years old, in a nursing home after breaking her hip and ankle in October.  I'd like to think she's had enough of a career to get an obit.

That place is summat like the Sex Pistols at the 100 Club

If you went there and tried to fit in everyone who ever claimed to have been, they'd never fit in! Doubtless we'll have claiments for a long time to come.

Is this where we are supposed to place the obligatory 'how do you get 50 Jews inside a Volkswagen Beetle?' joke?

Those of you still searching for a suitable replacement for Johnny Hallyday in your DP teams need look no further than Oliver Dragojevic.

The 70-year old Croatian cultural icon was diagnosed with lung cancer back in August and has spent the past couple of weeks hospitalised after being forced to cancel some concerts.

For what it's worth, he gains a Daily Mail obituary.

The only people not to get a Daily Mail obituary this year were the folk on my DDP team!

Haha...

He was my Advent Avalanche reserve pick. I'm concerned that my reserve picks always do better than my main picks.

Hadn't even considered him for shortlist material either. Well, sword swallowers are a rarity, so maybe I shouldn't be that surprised...

Some say there's no point in life. There was in Johnny Fox's.

What about Pelè or Maradona?  I seriously think one of them could go next year ( for old age Pelè and health issues Maradona ).

78 isn't a very old age. There are much better picks than Pele or Maradona.

Pele is currently confined to a wheel chair and looked absolutely terrible in his last public appearance. He wouldn’t be that bad of a pick tbh. Maradona, on the other hand, I agree that he would be a wasted pick.
