He smoked three packs of ciggies a day.

I bet he could even smoke in a bar, on a train and anywhere else.

I bet NK will still have petrol powered vehicles in 40 years too.

Fuck, I'm emigrating. :)

iirc Dresnok's obits said he "suffered" 50 years of living off a government pension, having meals prepared for him, and drinking and fishing.

I mean, views of North Korea aside here,  it's not really a glowing disincentive, is it...

Actually, for the majority of their first decade they were confined to a single house, seldom fed and routinely beaten until they memorised the language and the teachings of il-Sung.

I wouldn't say the end result was exactly worth it...

I think it is called defecting. Not emigrating. But I wonder if NK would pay the costs!! Time to drop Kim a postcard.

Who n who?

Edit: Googled Syd,  pink flyod

This is how I feel when reading most of the posts in Family of the Famous.

Obviously I know who Syd Barrett was, though.

Me too; I was thinking earlier that the thread should be renamed to include "Families of those on the Fringes of Fame", or summat.

I blame my age.

Iggy is photographed on the back of Syd's solo album "The Madcap Laughs".

Mike Westbrook is reporting the death of TV and film director/screenwriter Peter Duffell: https://twitter.com/westbrookjazz/status/943109347873296384

Known for various things but probably Man In A Suitcase and The Adventures Of Black Beauty stand out for me.

So that's how Chloe Annett managed to get an acting career.

I take it she isn't overly popular with you?

I don't dislike her but there's no way she got the acting jobs she did based on talent and while she's attractive enough she's not stunning enough to get jobs based purely on looks. Mediocre, pretty actresses are ten a penny but not all of them have fathers who are TV and film directors.

I like Red Dwarf but she's the worst actress by far in a series which isn't really noted for stellar acting performances so I do think daddy had a helping hand in her career.

Leslie R. Wolfe, a longtime advocate for the rights of women and girls, who helped produce studies showing gender-based inequality in education (including the SAT college entrance test) and the workplace, died Nov. 30 at a hospice center in Rockville, Md. She was 74.  The cause was complications from dementia.

Miss Wolfe's efforts in showing gender-bias in the SAT were:

  • Successful
  • Unsuccessful
  • Both A and B
  • Neither A nor B
