A Romanian hasn't been so unwell since the time Bill Cosby invited Nadia Comenici for drinks.

Well, he's just a former Eastern European king dethroned 70 years ago, he's more of a curiosity (being #1 in the order of precedence among royals regularly invited by Lizzy II) than a genuine household name (in the UK) like Vera Lynn and Kirk Douglas.

Didn't even know he was ill , must of missed a trick with this one.

Michael (95) is suffering from chronic leukaemia and metastatic epidermoid carcinoma (not the most aggressive cancer types in the world, but still more than a minor inconvenience) and has recently been widowed (in August 2016).

This is a good pick. His cancer ,age and death of his wife last year almost certainly means he has months left at most.

Please don't die.

He was a king in The 1920's.

That was before my mother was born, in 1928.

Agree! My mother was born in 1925, and still living.

Yeah, I mean, if I got to 95, I'd probably die of shock!

95 + terminal cancer= a very likely hit.

As with queenie. When would it be OK for them to die? I don't get this please don't die shite, I understand obviously for relatives/friends or someone young but when people are really old and really ill when would it be OK for them to say their final goodbye?

He's a troll. Trolls can be entertaining if they are clever and interesting, but JTrost1234 has neither of those qualities.

Wasn't there a Deathlist poster years back who solely posted poetry about how Deathlist picks were getting better? I might have made that up.

This year the list is a good one and it WON'T remain at zero. It's only a matter of time, Trost. Enjoy your last days without hits.

So? Why should we care?

Terminal cancer + any age = a very likely hit, that's terminal by definition (life expectancy or expected survival time < 6 months). OTOH I can't remember if anyone had used this phrase in conjunction with his cancer (chronic leukaemia and epidermoid carcinoma are normally relatively indolent, although the metastasis is bad news for him and I wouldn't be shocked if he died tomorrow).

That being said and perhaps surprisingly, sometimes cancer kills really old people a bit slower since cell division slows down with age.

Rare update (if you can call it an update)

Quote

“King Michael I is permanently surrounded by an eminent medical team, by members of His Majesty’s Royal House detached in Switzerland and by two Orthodox nuns. The health of His Majesty is stable,” the release reads.
