The Deathlist Cup

Hi msc

Unfortunately for him and me Sandy Saunders didn't make it to midnight so that brings sub number one into play.

Since I started putting names on a list for this pool I have gathered 29 names and 15 of them are now dead.

i suppose when you are looking for imminent deaths it's quite likely that people aren't going to make the start line.

3 deaths in one day.

Now watch there be no deaths for weeks once midnight passes...

We're only waiting for one of the 16 entrants now. Who has...2 hours and 14 mins left to enter.

Let's see if I can get a faster hit than Bernie Portenski this time.

And wham, the draw for the Quarterfinals has been made. Nothing to worry folk till later in March, but here's how the route to the Semis looks for everyone in the final 16...

Quarterfinals

1.       Switch or DDT vs Rad Guy or Bibliogryhon

2.       Roverandout or Gcreptile vs The Dead Cow or Death Impends

3.       Maryportfuncity or Spade Cooley vs Deadsox or Pedro67

4.       Captain Chorizo or Grim Up North vs Heef or Garn2

Thanks for the hard work msc.

You made a small mistake in the masterlist though, my sub that went in for LDL was Elias, not Bracknell. You got it right on the team vs. team thing, though.

What will happen? Technically she was dead before entries closed, but she has died in March...

As usual, we're taking local times after Kick Off, which means Tania counts as 1st March death**. And, under the strictest definition of the rules, is very lucky for some*, but so it goes.

*by which I mean the person who got her in a team 10 mins before a death announcement. Had the news broke first, obviously they'd need a sub in play.

**It's an imperfect ruling, but I'm an imperfect guy...

Rad’s Die-monds in the Sky (Rad Guy) vs Bibliogryphon  0-0

The Dead Cow vs Tommy J’s Eleven to Heaven – Or Elsewhere for Nevin (Death Impends) 2-2

Heef vs Death Comes to Wembley (Garn2) 2-0

Maryportfuncity vs 101 Great Practical Jokes with Luciano Re Cecconi (Spade Cooley) 0-2

Captain Chorizo vs The GUN’11 (Grim Up North) 0-0

The Cooler Name (Switch) vs DDT 0-2

Deadsox vs Pedro67  0-0

Rover’s Rovers (Roverandout) vs “O” (gcreptile) 0-2

Unbelievable. I've been in the competition less than an hour and I'm already behind! So much for keeping it tight first half...

This would've been my team, May Lee Johnson in for Hewlett obviously. Want to see how it does (won't be the best scoring, but still. Kept Douglas cause I felt like it.)

1. Betts, Emma

2. Butler, Henry

3. Christie, Errol

4. Douglas, Kirk

5. Downie, Gord

6. Hewlett, Steve

7. Michael, King

8. Nevin, Catherine

9. Perez, Julia

10. Singh, Jagraj

11. Suisala, Ben

Subs

1. Johnson, May Lee

2. Elias, Rayya

3. Gilbert, Greg

I would've had 4 unique picks this time had I made it.

It was Magill I talked about that I dropped.

DDT still did not pick Nevin and went for Manson instead. Does he know something we don't?

It looks like Nina Riggs from Spade's team died two days ago - https://www.youcaring.com/nina-riggs-500580

Also, I know Dead Cow was feeling worried about facing me, but I think your team is quite strong as well and it won't be an easy win for either of us.

I don't think so, there are some very obvious omissions from my team. I only noticed Lucky Akhand hours after I submitted my team, so I hope he's exaggerating.

I'm surprised Vennari was unique, although it's John Vennari not Jack Vennari as the masterlist states. Ultimately, I think my comparative dearth of unique picks will be my undoing.

Oh, you and Death Impends both have very strong teams. There was a reason why I labeled your guy's match too close to call.

Hi msc - excellent work overnight but you've only published 10 of my team.

Errol Christie was number 3 on my list.

Me v Capt Chorizo

A bit like last round we have 6 common picks so the match will be decided by a 5 a side competition.

GUN 5 - Downie, Osmond, Van Zandvliet*, Vervoort, Booth

CC 5 - Perez, Hamilton-Byrne, Q Jones*, Karunanidhi*, Smith Hart*

*=unique

I'd be surprised if H-B didn't die as she is in palliative care so I would agree with Joey that CC has the edge. Particularly with my most likely carker being Osmond who will only be a one pointer against H-B two.

I don't think many unique picks died last month though and I doubt any of them will see 2018 so I'm not without hope.

Unfortunately for me I think my best bet (King Michael) is a pick for RadGuy as well. Not behind yet though. However punditry seems to have me as the underdog.
