Thread Description Restoration Project

Recommended Posts

Let's create lots of work for the mods by suggesting "descriptions" for threads that currently don't have any.

For instance, Wrestlers/actors should surely be "Getting buried"

Otherwise, I have nothing, which will come as no shock to those who see the awful puns I come up with in The Crowdsourced Deathlist thread...

What are the odds they'll all 'disappear' with the imminent forum software update?

During an update virtually all the subtexts were deleted. I managed to remember some and those have been inserted back into the current forum. Here are some more.

Presenters
Ask Aspel or summat

Authors Last a Long Time, But....
Tome or Tomb?

The Chequered Flag
Who's on the last lap in motor racing?

Madonna
breathless?

Rag Traders
Halt the cure

Political Frailty
Power, Corruption, Lies... and Death

Queen Elizabeth II
Encrusted with barnacles but still unsinkable

Sheikh Down
Arabia's Finest Line Up

Bovine Attacks
Humans, Cows, Bulls, Injuries, Death

Britney Spears & Lindsay Lohan & Marilyn Monroe & Kerry Katona
Useless Daft Bimbos

Music's Oldest
Music stars (old, ill or meant to be dead long ago)

There are many more but these are the best known ones.

Death Is Uniform

Silvio Berlusconi

Trials and Defibrillations

Dead Architects

Living In A Box...Leaving In A Pinewood Box

For convenience's sake, if I like a post in this thread listing subtitles, take that as a sign the appropriate subtitles have returned.

Dead Pop Stars

Heard them on the radio

Just because I think it was Maryport, and I appreciate the reference, before cursing it as I couldn't get Clare Grogan's voice out of my head for the rest of the day!

The other ones I remember (bar Robert Hardy, which was awful and thus I conveniently forget) are dead folk. Dr Zhiva-gone, that was a classic...

We can readd "No more drugs than your average funk band" to "professional cyclists". "Had his chips" is the obvious one for John McCain, any advances?

No one else ever so slightly annoyed that this thread has no tagline?

How about for this thread: it doesn't need a tagline.

Just to be ironic.

Not a tagline suggestion, but I keep seeing 'readd' as a typo for 'read'.

Perhaps something like 'Thread Description Restoration Project' might be clearer.

Probably just me though.

Looking for an old thread, stumbled across Steve Fossett. Reminded me I always liked the tagline on his thread: (paraphrased) 700 take offs, 699 successful landings...

Or something like that.

Amusingly, 4 silly sods picked Fossett in the 2008 DDP, and swiftly got no points.

Maybe you could merge Found some more sub texts! into this thread and restore the following:

George Michael     Wake him up before he go-goes

Vignerons    Popping Their Corks

Scientists, Inventors And Techno Wizards    From Bright Ideas to Oh Dears

Stairway To Heaven/ Highway To Hell    Metal & hard rock stars that die, or aren't doing well.

Tom Jones    Why? Why? Why?

Ah ha!  This could be the place for @YoungWillz   to note the threads that need to be tagged "dead".

Oh gawd Toastie, but then some of our newer members wouldn't have the gift of reading contributions from such luminaries of the board such as Godot, Josco, Banshees Scream, etc etc.

Might encourage them to up their game...or in some cases lower it!
