Georgian Deadpool

Recommended Posts

Sort of a reverse pool and the opposite of the Elizabethan Deadpool.Pick 50 names of living people born between 12th December 1936 and 5th February 1952.When the Queen dies the game ends and those with the most names still breathing is the winner. If there is a tie it will go to sudden death e.g if two teams still have 50 names alive the game will continue until one is down to 49.

All entries must have their own wikipedia page as of today 17th March 2017.

It is called the Georgian Deadpool as King George VI was the Queens father and Prince Charles will become King George when he is King.If Charles dies before the Queen the game is still valid but the title will be an epic fail.

Entries open until 23:59 on the 20th April 2017.No entries will be accepted after this. Here is my team.

That is highly unlikely.  There is no reason why he wouldn't use his own first name as a regnal name.

How's the recuperation going, Shaun? Been meaning to ask for ages.

For the record, I find this approach really off-putting.  That is, where people openly post their entries upfront.  I prefer to see teams revealed after the start date.

Isn't it accepted though that a game runner should post their team up front? In case they are accused of stealing from entries submitted?

O/wise, pm'ed to the runner, I agree.

There's never been confirmation on the whole George VII thing (though it gets heavily rumoured) but it does seem likely he wont go for Charles - for some reason, it's seen as unlucky...

If it's really seen as unlucky, it was a strange choice to give it to the heir as a first forename, and it's the name by which he has always been known.  Most of the traditional royal names have inevitably got some baggage.  Charles is unlikely to have a long reign anyway as he's already pushing 70.

He might never be King. British monarchs have a tendency to outlive at least one of their kids.

Well, no.  The DDP runner has never made their own team public in advance, to my knowledge.

I hate to see new competitions kicking off with "Game starts now, here's my team and I've already grabbed all the best names for myself"

I think it's fairer all round for people to make their own selections in isolation, without being influenced by the choices of others, like the DDP.

Others will disagree, I'm sure.

The obvious solution in these cases is for the game runner to PM their team to a trusted DL member.

You are welcome to send your team via PM and I will publish it on the page after the deadline. As a host I am obliged to keep your list confidential while entries are open.By putting my team up straight away I merely avoid accusations of stealing names from other contenders.

It's seeing other people's teams that I find off-putting.  I prefer it when all teams are kept under wraps until the start date.

And I prefer there to be advance notice of the start date, rather than the game commencing with its announcement.

Oh well, apparently it's obligatory for the Hare's Pool, which is why I posted my team up front.

Good to hear you are on the mend Shaun, you'll get there.

No.If you choose to submit your names and someone else takes advantage that is your fault.

I believe you should be able to click edit on the original post and change the title from there? If you aren't able, let me know of the new title you desire and I can change it for you.

Realized that Mutrie is a little too young as well. Johnny Hallyday and Gregg Allman to replace them then.
