I don't know of many groups from chart-era music where all (*not just the original) members are dead, other than The Andrews Sisters and McFadden & Whitehead.

How many other groups have all the former members dead? Jimi Hendrix Experience was one of the first groups to clear, back in 2008 with the death of Mitch Mitchell. ELP almost did it last year if not for that plucky Palmer (who by the way, I'd put money on being alive in 2030).

Obviously too many to count, but if we'll go for the more famous & recent ones, also without including non-original members - I think Ramones, The Jazz Messengers (also many others jazz bands), The Jimi Hendrix Experience are the obvious examples, there are quite a few with 1 or 2 original members.

Well, last time I looked Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson (same era and arguably even more inane than that lot) were still alive. UK Eurovision entry (and disaster) from 1959 and subject of a running gag in one episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus

Aye, although he wasn't a founding member. Even when they changed the name to T.Rex (five albums in in 1970) they were a duo (Bolan and Finn - both dead for years). Bill Legend (Fyfield) was there from the sixth album - Electric Warrior.

Before that of course as Tyrannosaurus Rex it was Bolan and Steve Peregrine-Took, who died in 1980 after choking on a glacé cherry!

A fair point and - co-incidentally - I'm typing this with the Bump 'n' Grind album playing. Significant because it's a collection of working demos and outtakes which pretty much disproves the argument that the classic line-up were just a bunch of pub rockers who lucked into backing a guy who was on fire. The bulk of the stuff on that album is really tight and is - basically - the Bolan, Finn, Currie, Legend quartet at the top of their game.
