The Death List 1988?A great mystery.

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone knows the story behind the lost list of 1988?How was it lost? And does anyone go back far enough to remember any of its details?

Grim, iirc,  says it got lost somewhere between moves. He is, literally, the only person who posts here now you could ask?

Harry Mac suggested once they never actually got round to doing a Deathlist that year. Might have been joking. Dunno.

In short - not a single scooby snack.

Grim's about the only person left who knows.

They lost it or just didn't get round to it that year. One of the two, it's completely lost to time immemorial.

Might be an idea to post something about the lost 1988 list in the Alumni Blog for the Warwick University and Ask if anyone who might have been in the original group if they remember the names? Could be written down in an old-fashioned ´paper´notebook somewhere. Sometimes people never throw things away from their school days.

I think I remember something in chat many moons ago, that Welshman, one of the original Deathlisters, thought the 1988 list was somewhere in his attic.

Pretty good year for celebrity deaths 1988. For fans of tragic child stars you get the Heather O'Rourke/Judith Barsi twofer, a great week for the counter-culture as both Divine and John Holmes drop dead in the space of seven days, the only occasion on which Trevor Howard, Valerie Solanas and Adrian Adonis will ever be mentioned in the same breath.... Enzo Ferrari span out, Emeric Pressburger was red shooed off and Kenneth Williams pondered what was the point. Music provided by Roy Orbison and Sylvester.

DL probably would have got a couple of hits, as it's the early days. Maybe the aforementioned Pressburger, maybe Charles Hawtrey?

Why does Daws Butler seem like a  possible Deathlist hit to me?

My Grandparents lived in the same nursing home as Pressburger although not at the same time.Apparently he used to have his Oscar on the mantlepiece in the room.

Would it be OK to make a 1988 list now that is 50/50 hits and ups our percentages?
I am limiting this question to those who, upon a person's death, change the name of the person in the poll questions asking who will be next to die so they are 'right'.
