Stephen Darby update at the 5-year-mark:

Still very positive. And he was only 29 when diagnosed, so, extremely young. The younger you are, the slower MND seems to move.

He went on Holiday with his wife to Abu Dhabi a few weeks back. Obviously still fit enough to travel and cope with it all.

Finnish politician Antero Laukkanen makes one last appearance at parliament, short of breath with what seems to be a mobility scooter next to his chair but still able to talk quite clearly.

Another politician with ALS is Torao Tokuda, had it for around a decade now if he hasn't died off-radar sometime recently.

Antero Laukkenen in hospice now

Stephen Darby has fallen twice this year according to his foundations Instagram page.

Darby in a video here. Now mostly wheelchair bound and definitely struggling to speak now. I think he'll still see 2025, but he's clearly on the downhill slope.

Rob Burrow has been ‘surprised’ with his CBE by the Prince of Wales.

The fact they have presented the medal so quickly suggests it’s not just for the Facebook likes…

Yep just like when Deborah James got her DBE so soon after she was awarded and she died a few weeks later

He met Princess Anne yesterday at an event. Still well enough then to go out in Public.

Darby, Rob Burrow and Marcus Stewart in a photo here: - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-68647460

Stewart looks alright, Darby wheelchair bound... Rob Burrow - looks utterly terrible. I'd be shocked if he makes it to 2025.
