The 3rd Crowdsourced Deathlist (2018 edition)

Recommended Posts

With the way this year has utterly disappeared, and how busy I am, I will forget to do this if I don't put it up now. So here you go...

This Sunday sees nine weeks till Hogmanay, somehow, so debate who should go on the list here. The 2017 list saw 21/50 hits (so far), a fine performance

THE RULES

Rules

1. Please send a list of celebrities you wish to vote for to msc, during the time period of 25th November to the 31st December 2017. The list must have a minimum of 12 names on it, and a maximum of 50.

Please send them by PM, not by email, semaphore, Morse code, Deathlist live chat, animated corpses, text messages, or any other means of communication you can think of.

2. Your 1st choice will gain 50 points, 2nd 49, etc etc to 50th which will gain 1 point.

3. When the deadline passes, all of the points that an individual celebrity gain will be added together, and the top fifty celebrities with the most points overall will go on the Utterly Unofficial Forum List.

4. Feel free to add substitutes at the bottom of the list, which will only be counted if one of your fifty die before January 1st 2018. If for example your number one pick is such a smart one they die before January 1st, then I will give 50 points to your 2nd pick, and so on until 1 point is given to the first substitute.

5. Do try to make the picks as "Deathlisty" as possible. More Lily Savage and less Sophie Sabbage, if you know what I mean. Someone likely to score an obit with one of the major English language news outlets.

6. The deadline for sending in entries is 31st December 2017 at midnight. That's 7pm New York Time (31st December) and 11am (1st Jan) Melbourne time to help out non-Brits.

7. This is essentially a forum game without a winner. It does however put the long held notion by some that the combined minds of the forum know better than the Committee to the test.

8. Who picked whom will remain anonymous. Unless the person announces it of course.

9. The paranoid probably shouldn't send in their DDP unique hopefuls. Whilst I do not intend to steal them away, it would make no sense: if the person then showed up on the list, their chances of being unique would be very slim indeed!

10. To keep to the Deathlist spirit, only the top 25 ranked celebrites from the current list of Crowdsourced Deathlist 2017 survivors will be used: Leah Bracknell, Kirk Douglas, King Michael of Romania, Prince Philip, Rev Billy Graham, Robert Mugabe, Jacques Chirac, Desmond Tutu, George Bush Sr, Olivia de Havilland, Leslie Philips, Former Pope Benedict XVI, Vera Lynn, Jimmy Carter, Glynis Johns, Clive James, Gina Lollobrigida, Herman Wouk, Stefan Karl Stefansson, Queen Elizabeth II, Sidney Poitier, Denis Norden, Ian St John, Sumner Redstone, Mikhail Gorbachev, Joanne Woodward, Monica Vitti, Jill Gascoine and Nanette Fabray.

Some names there I don’t think anyone expected to be in contention for 2018, but there’s still time in 2017 yet.

10a) Our actual collated list will stick to the "25 from the previous year" rule.

10b) As a result, if our top fifty, after all votes have been counted, has more than twenty-five of the 2017 survivors (named for ease in Rule 10), then the lowest ranked excess survivors will be axed from the list in favour of The Fifty-First ranked celebrity and so on...

10c) Since we don't know if that'll be an issue until I actually do the counting, voters don't need to worry about limiting their personal lists to 25 survivors. It'd be nice if they did, but that's life.

11) Please pick living people. Folk do die before 1at January, but there were a few cases of people dead for a number of years chosen last time. Please do not pick animals, or ISIS prisoners, or kids, or any of the usual no go areas.

Anyhow, enjoy. Or not.

And now folk can lobby their friends on who they want to see on the list.ie Glynis Johns or whoever. Different from the slam guide in a way I guess, as there's nothing stopping you voting for no name perfectly well Polish weathermen if you so wish, but now you want to get other folk to vote for them too....

Getting Foray on without even advocating for it in thread will be an untoppable CSDL feat for me. I'll probs leave the form guides to others and submit a list in the final week as usual.

Form Guide #1

Ozzy Osbourne is one of the most well known metal singers of all time, but he also dealt with a lot of drug addiction throughout the years as well. Will 2018 finally be the year he succumbs to those years of abuse. I mean, we thought Lemmy was immortal...

Form Guide #3 - Robert Mugabe

Robert-Mugabe-1062x598.jpg

When Mugabe isn't posting on the DL forums or listening to Haddaway and other Eurodance, the 93-year old is having some kind of health problem. Will 2018 finally be the year he falls asleep for good?

Form Guide #4 -Franco Zeffirelli

image.jpeg.44efed0970987bff96794c16b5c3b1c6.jpeg

The Knighted Director was too ill to travel from Rome to his hometown of Florence earlier in the year for the opening of a museum named after him, a demise in 2018 seems highly probable.  Before high speed porn or being allowed to watch R-Rated movies, his 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet was a must watch for generations of young lads courtesy of Olivia Hussey's cleavage  .

I recommend people vote for the fabulous Hollywood legend Sidney Poitier. Aged 90 and was too ill and frail in early 2016 to collect in person his honorary BAFTA and the pictures and video clips of him at the time pointed to him being a man in  very frail health and condition.

I urge people to vote for Clarissa Eden. Turns 98 next year and as the widow of a former British Prime Minister she is guaranteed a qualifying obituary.

As is a tradition I'll be allocating 50 points to Thomas Schafernaker; as he was sent to an active hurricane earlier this year it almost looked as though it might not be so ridiculous, will anybody else take a punt this year?

For peoples consideration, Mary Carlisle one of the few actresses from the silent movie era still alive aged 103. The last of the WAMPAS baby stars.

I have that book! Annoyingly it ends in 1978 when Sir Anthony dies. I was more interested in how she'd been doing since for deadpooling general curiosity.

Feel like the graps fans on here need to unite around one pick, so may I put forward "The Ugandan Giant" himself, Kamala.

2578183_1416281135.0339_funddescription.

Broke, has had both legs amputated due to diabetes and guaranteed obits in all the redtops as well as the Mail, Guardian and Indie. Also, the 1993 Kamala "moon belly" yellow card Hasbro is officially the most valuable wrestling figure of all time, as only 24 were ever produced.

Here he is, pre-Kamala, getting a beatdown from Shirley Crabtree himself. Check out the slackness of those ropes:

Anne Hamilton Byrne

The leader of the infamous cult "the family" has been quiet for several years and supposedly has ill health. She also turns 97 in 2018.
