Yeah, I'm pretty sure this wouldn't count. Maybe a CBC or something, but not a small-city one like this. But interesting find, one from my city too :P
Note on this and I'm pretty sure I'm saying something that has been said already but here goes.
I think Deathray just relaxed the DDP obit rules so he takes BBC local obits, CBC, stuff like that but the rules still don't go as extreme as an obit from the Butte (Montana) Daily would qualify :D

I was going to do an ice hockey theme team as is for the DDP, and I managed to find a Facebook list of oldest ex-NHL players, so it helped with both that and this one :P Some of them are rather obscure as far as playing time in the league goes, but that's why they're here and not in the DDP list ;)

Deathray's free to clarify, of course, but given the fact that he was okay with non-English obits, I'm sure proper obits in local papers should be okay as well!

Just to settle this, a newspaper obituary is a newspaper obituary regardless of which newspaper it is in. A condolence request from the family is not a newspaper obituary however. I'll try and settle the obit criteria more thoroughly next year. It feels utterly wrong not to accept an obit in a DW magazine article on grounds of not being a newspaper despite it actually obituarising the person and then accept an non-obituary from the passages pages of a newspaper (I remember even stopping short of accepting this sort of thing for the Hares Death Pool; which has obit rules making this look strict).

A discussion about acceptable obits does need to be had though; and I really should have been more on the ball with this so here's a first draft for next years rules:

  1. The obituary must be an article in nature (not a memorandum or passages pages family or friend request piece).
  2. The article can be from a specialist magazine/newspaper, national newspaper, local newspaper or town newspaper.
  3. The article may be from an online source such as a news website, sports pages (football live threads etc).
  4. It must not be a social media announcement, a amateur blog post or a forum post and the ilk,
  5.  The article must contain at a minimum a paragraph and include the person's name, reason for being famous and date of death.

That or we use the "fuck it" method and any acknowledgement of death is accepted.

Also @CaptainChorizo you didn't enter this did you? Despite awarding you 769 points last time rounding I appear to have noticed you haven't entered a team. Must've got you confused with @Ulitzer95 ?

Current the only valid entries I appear to have are CastAway and FixedBusiness?
