He gave me his tour pass after I met him at the end of the All About Eve 'Ultraviolet' tour (the Sea Nymphs had been the support). Nice chap.  Sad news.

Louder Than War now reporting it - https://louderthanwar.com/walter-lure-rip/

So another band is having their classical lineup extinct.

There's a discussion elsewhere on DL about musicians going on to other careers so it's only fair to say Bob Golinski will likely be remembered as a significant barrister working in Manchester.

However let's not forget "Bloody, " a post-punk corker which was one of the singles in John Peel's legendary record box. Oh aye, and...the Golinski brothers weren't brothers and he was the only Golinski in the band.

So, the four original Damneds are well enough to reform for a few gigs playing - by the sound of it - music purely from their first two albums and a few other random tracks like b-sides

Big questions now include how well their original fans can still pogo for the whole show and exactly how much of the second (Nick Mason produced) album they dare unleash live.

Oh dear! They look like they'll be covering Clive Dunn's "Grandad".

Yeah, you've got to wonder how much of this is a joyous celebration of a briefly brilliant career and how much it's cash for winter coats for codgers. One great thing about punk (almost all eras and anywhere you go) is the willingness of the bands to play live. As someone who grew up away from the main gig centers I loved it that the best and worst punk bands did show up and give it a go, many of them still do. Recently seen a few of the originals incl. the excellent 9 Below Zero (punky r-n-b, basically) and that few beers/sweaty gig vibe always did it for me.

But...Music for Pleasure (Damned 2nd album) is a dog's breakfast of a long player and if they're serious about limiting the set to only the stuff the four of them recorded together there'd be no escaping at least half of it at that gig. I get the point and it can be done well. Nick Mason out there reviving Barrett era Floyd is a great idea. Damned ending their catalogue when Brian James left means they won't even do Smash it Up.

Likely a gig better with a serious intake of beer before they're on.
