I reckon you will get a few hits out of those.

Walls tempted to post mine early on here but I won't as there are some names I am hoping people have forgotten or overlooked.

@Deathray Last year, Sir Creep posted a few theme teams in the DDP thread assuming it'd count as a submission. It didn't. So on that I'd recommend sending Spade some emails.

OK. I'll email them. Vaguely remember tmib taking mine from the forum last year but that was a lot earlier in December!

Email sent. Will be awful due to being on holiday, using a phone and having left any info at home. Poor planning on my part it would seem.

Gonna send my team in in a few minutes. I did a lot of research in 2016 and got 12th spot in the scoreboard. Last year I didn't too as much research and going to end up somewhere in top 50. This year I did more research and hoping to get a position in top 10 next year. Also going to send my first theme team - DDP Tofoa Former Picks in the Elderly Nursing Home.

500

Still Life, Destination Eschaton and new B-team Still More Life, have all been sent to the master. Both main team and B team consist of a combination of certs and gambles, young and old, popular picks and potential uniques, 'futharc's and 'twelfth's, and it will be interesting to see how they both fare. Obviously, I won't reveal them until tomorrow, but I shall reveal Destination Eschaton now, considering it doesn't stand a chance.

1. Saul Kripke
2. Mary Midgley
3. Gayatri Spivak
4. Daniel Dennett
5. Thomas Nagel
6. Slavoj Zizek
7. Peter Kreeft
8. Mary Warnock
9. Jurgen Habernas
10. Gillo Dorfles
11. Noam Chomsky
12. Onora O'Neill
13. Alasdair MacIntyre
14. Martha Nussbaum
15. Alain Badiou
16. Simon Blackburn
17. John Searle
18. Anthony Kenny
19. Judith Butler
20. Sandra Harding

Subs

1. Hans Albert
2. David Chalmers
3. Kanye West

Good luck folks.

I bet the chance of unique hits will decrease even more with all those B-Teams.

True :). Though I was a little sorry for taking away the unique hit with Julia Perez from Death Impends. This time, my B-Team is excessively safe, it's the attempt to get 20 hits that I suggested before. All the risk is in my main team, a no-holds-barred frontal assault.

Team submitted, consisting mostly of last year’s survivors, a couple of random thoughts and some names from the first three pages of the Possibilities thread. Good luck losers! :D

I have no uniques for sure. To everyone's surprise I did not pick Cecchi Gori as he is said to be recovering and Olivia Newton-John is not on my main theme because I don't think she'll really die; anyway she has secured a place on b-team, as she is too big to miss. Same for Stefan Karl. Only two/three picks in both teams are not so common and I think one will be picked by very few people, but we'll see.

My teams will be posted at some point tomorrow.

Then you can curse your luck if you've picked them too! :P

I have no uniques at all, most likely, but also not a winning side - aiming to try and be better than 2017, if not 2016, points wise.

Obviously being better than 2012-15 hopefully goes without saying.

Now, if everyone has a "safe" team and a "risky" team, then last year's trend of the Drop 40 getting more "sophisticated" (less name recognition, more fringe-fame-cancer-people) will be reversed. I'm sure if everyone forces themselves to pick 40 or 60 names instead of 20, then name recognition will, again, increase in importance.

Haven't had any time to research this year, not that it made any difference when I did, so have just picked 20 people listed across the forums who sound vaguely ill but probably are fine.

I don't really care for this trend of having a B Team.  It seems to be a way of avoiding the discipline of having to keep to 20 names, and reducing the danger of 'risky' picks.  Theme teams are fine, but two 'serious' teams seems a bit greedy to me.

(Continuing the team sweepstakes)

I’m gonna guess around 520 or so.
