The Dead of 2018

Couldn't see a reference elsewhere via search engine, or indeed from a QO yet, but Howard Lew Lewis has died aged 76. Maid Marian and Her Merry Men, Brush Strokes, plus guest spots on Blackadder, Minder, and nearly every other 80s British TV show. One of those faces imo.

Agreed, instantly recognisable (to me at least), even if the name wasn't.

Not a happy end-of-life according to this Chortle piece.

That’s the fourth deathrace name to die so far for me. Think the survivors will be quite low this year just like last year even if my performance wasn’t as good as lasts time...

Hit for my B-Team, among other places. A DDP unique despite picking her on some public pools - though I never actually discussed what was wrong with her (hospice with terminal cancer for many months :xbones:). As a lover of "bygone era" names it was a proud find, I think a UK obit is a shoo-in for inspiring such an iconic image.

Hugh Masekela, dead at 78.

I’m saddened by this. He really was an amazing musician, with one of his songs being recently announced into the Grammy’s Hall of Fame. I wish I could’ve put him on my B team to replace some of the less interesting folk on there in hindsight, but alas, that’s how life goes sometimes. Still saddened by this. RIP

i'm devastated

I do one specific version of my radio show a year (first show of every new year) dedicated to a list of the lost (i.e. they died the previous year). It's January 23rd and by the time I add a shortish Masekela track to the script we'll be pushing 40 minutes already in a show that runs a little over two hours. Seriously, need this death rate to slow down a touch.

But as I always point out, this is the Dead of (Year) thread, and it should serve as a useful reference source.

Therefore ideally every death of note should be listed here, even when the deceased is mentioned in more specific threads.
