There should be DL comics: next in the series is how to discuss football with Saint and Greavsie!

And Gazza turns up at the end with a chicken a fishing rod and some tinnies.

Got Last Word treatment this afternoon; fair assessment at that.

BBC4 is showing a repeat of this tomorrow, 10.30pm

The Fall: The Wonderful and Frightening World of Mark E Smith

Documentary exploring the history of the Fall, the enigmatic British post-punk band fronted by Mark E Smith, who died last month. Emerging from the Manchester punk scene during the late 1970s, the Fall underwent numerous style and line-up changes, with the only persistent member being frontman Smith, whose acerbic wit and biting lyricism became one of the band's few constant trademarks. Featuring footage of the group's last Peel Session, and contributions by Paul Morley, Tony Wilson, Stewart Lee and Franz Ferdinand.

His one-time missus Brix Smith has an interesting CV - having joined the band in 1983 (she met Mark in April, they were married in July) and subsequently divorced him and recorded with other bands, she later married a 'fashion entrepreneur' and did the fashion commentary on Royal Ascot in 2013. As much of a leap for a post-punk icon as John Lydon advertising butter.

Wiki says that she and Mark met at a Chicago concert - I assume that means that the Fall were playing in Chicago (bizarre enough in itself) but it would be nice to think that they bonded over 'If You leave Me Now' or 'Hard to Say I'm Sorry.'

I suspected it was cancer actually, and turns out I was right.

Fascinating... (you are a good form-watcher Weebl...)

Maybe he used a wheelchair because the cancer had spread to his bones?

That is quite likely actually.

Just seeing how he had declined physically from when I saw him live in October 2016 compared with the footage of him in a wheelchair from November 2017 reminded me of the deterioration typical of the awful illness that is cancer.

Not good, but not in any way surprising either given his lifestyle!

Possibly but it could also have been due to side effects of treatment such as loss of muscle tone blistered feet exhaustion etc.
