Nobby Stiles

...oh

Actually, this was also my first thought.

Then saw that he was not on the list, wanted to vote for Barbara Bush, ended up voting for John McCain.

Thought I'd start 2018 with the gently touched Jill Gascoine.

Makes you realise how much weaker the list is this year though when you try and find the just about ready to topple and can't spot one.

Mark E. Smith looked so ill in the most recent photo I've punted on him in the poll. I'm currently his only support there.

Having conceded that Billy Graham is now destined to see his 100th birthday I'll choose Leslie Philips.

And the former president of Argentina, Isabel Peron, is also a good call for the list next year.

Ohh, 40 to choose from! Spoilt for choice.

Clive James gets my nod for end of life approval.

2018 can be summed up: too many soft targets and too few dark horses. Seems to me someone wants to break 2017.

I go for Olivia.

Ten days - no deaths

They only count when they go and last year was pretty productive. There's a few on the 50 I think might mock us in 2019; Gazza for one

So, in previous years, how long before the first hit occurred? Wondering what the shortest and longest wait has been.

I voted for Clive James.

Went for Dick Van Dyke. Deaths of close relatives can be hard on people.

I voted for Clive James.

Shortest wait: 1998 (Helen Wills, died 1/1/1998)

Longest wait: 1991 (NO DEATHS)

You think he's gonna croak that early? I see him making it to at least June or July.
