Well I guess it's the end of the "every democratic presidential candidate since 1976 [or in the last 44 years] is still alive" pattern of the cycle

also damnit, he seemed healthy for his age and it was a sudden drop. kind of like george mcgovern

The Democrats' Bob Dole.

Well, they were on opposite sides in the '76 election, of course. Was there a VP debate in those days?

'Started life as a lawyer' according to the homepage. Interesting ... most people start life as a baby. Only in America, eh?

Indeed there was a Vice Presidential debate in 1976, the first one ever.

It's now 3 months since the last DL candidate ever to die, popped his clogs.

The picks are good but I'm suprised by how the committee didn't include Carlos Menem and Larry King who both seemed to be on their way out of this world when the year changed.

Kenneth Kaunda and Dilip Kumar would've been good picks too, but at the start of this year I'd have thought they'd again survive another year.

I'm suprised how none of the three Bobs on the list have died yet.
