George Alagiah

Recommended Posts

I managed to have my wound after a fall regularly dressed from early march to early May.

I don't think we can call him a virus death when he departs being it's unlikely it had not spread to the lungs pre March 1st.

Still, he's not on the clock yet as the cancer grows rather slowly.

Maybe the committee have correctly guessed he will make 2023.

Yep, these things can obviously change very quickly, but reading the article it sounds like he feels he's got an eventual life sentence but the "when" doesn't sound too immediate. Another Olivia Newton-John?

He's finished five months (!) of chemo, a massive effort, which, in my opinion, can only get worse the next time. But for now, he's alive and in a better position:

Sounds like he might on a form of chemo for the rest of his life if he is starting a lower dose form.

Bit of a pisser for Alagiah, as he's reading the news tonight including a story on Deborah James' imminent demise.

Just came to say the same thing. Clearly moved after the report, a scary glimpse into his own future.

Deborah James has lasted 6 years as an outlier. That timeframe would give our George about 18-24 months more, tops, alas.

Doesn't seem imminent yet, but he is a good bet for 2023 and will likely be on the list.

Seems like a fitting comparison now.

Like Deborah James, Alagiah is doing a good job keeping up appearances. Tumours seem to move with similar speed and the side effects keep accumulating.

Alagiah is older than her though, so he might just run out of energy a little earlier.

Taking another break from presenting as his cancer spreads further.

“A recent scan showed that my cancer has spread further so it’s back to some tough stuff.

“I’m missing my colleagues. Working in the newsroom has been such an important part of keeping energised and motivated.

“I look forward to being back in that studio as soon as I can.”

Spread beyond its original spread to the lungs? :skull:

Unfortunately I think if he makes 2023 he'll be a strong contender for the list. By coincidence he's around the same age as former colleague and fellow cancer sufferer Bill Turnbull.

It's spread so much, it has surrounded him.

and yet, I somehow still feel like it'll be wasting a roster spot picking him in 2023

Possible. He's already survived 8 years, why not 9?
