Yes, I saw that. I "only" have about 40 teams scored right now. Deceased Hose slipped through, probably because I thought that I had already scored him when I went through the whole list.

 

If I see that another team is doing very well, I will add them as well.

This will be an interesting year. Safe teams vs. risky teams, statistics vs. gut feeling, almost even Drop 40 bonuses vs. unique bonuses (personal feeling: the Drop 40 bonus should go down to 2 pts).

 

This will be a good test if my statistics are of bigger use, because Dead Ends is doing about a pick better than anyone else. If he doesn't finish at or near the top with his statistically sound picks, then it shows that you're better off with gut feeling.

 

Oh yeah, and my gut feeling says that I am going to win. But that's not THAT unusual, considering I submitted only 3 weeks ago, and so far, nothing has happened that would change my opinion. I should have swapped my subs Sumner Redstone (second sub) and José José (third sub) though. But ironically, I'm still doing better than I would have if Cas Willow had lived for another week.

I think this year’s competition will definitely be a test on whether drop 40 or gut feeling from research is the best strategy from now on. No denying that drop 40 is important, but it’s a question of whether choosing mainly drop 40 is best or is researching still an important strategy to winning. I know on my hand one of my gut feelings already went through (Mark E Smith), but even with him, if I want to think I have a chance at winning, I would really need the Jacqui Forster unique to go through (obit can go either way imo tbh), but I also need both John Cocks and Vanessa Goodwin to obit, and having both Clive James and Morgan Tsvangirai dying since few of the major contenders chose them. Oh, and I need Devin Lima to survive and I need Nobby Stiles to survive to really improve my chances (the latter won’t happen imo)...

BTW w'happen to DQSP this year?  Too busy to submit a team and administer the DDP?   That is a tragedy of epic proportions.  It almost negates the pool as invalid.

I think DQSBP didn’t submit a team so in case a unique pick was stolen by someone else he doesn’t get accused of stealing. That, and I think he would like to give an opportunity for people elsewhere to actually win. And it’s not like he can’t be beaten ever anyways (as Golden Slumbers, Still Life, and TJS shown last year)...
