Is he dead yet?

Almost!

Well perhaps he should hurry up and Die!!

This has gone on for as long as fooking Crossroads.

And that was sh*t too!

Has Benny come back with that screwdriver yet?

maybe fidel will wake up in a supermarket checkout stall. you never guess what i had a dream about. that i was a south american dictator come hero come cigar smoker come bread guy come america tried to assassinate me with exploding cigar.

i believe he's already dead god knows when their going to announce it. i thought they would announce it during the obama inauguration. first fidel loves obama says he is a breath of fresh air so on and so forth i believe these really were his words . now on a cuban govt website he's (supposedly) done a 360 and is attacking obama . in other words he's dead and they can use his name to criticise and gain points .

fidel is 100 percent dead.

Dead? Oh come on please have a little bit of intelligence - don't believe any of these "he may be dead" rumours on the news. After the 03 invasion of Iraq, the media were consistently suggesting Saddam Hussein had died.. a few years later before they caught him. Anybody that disappears off the radar the media presumes to be dead... Osama, Kim Jong-il, Castro... if I could prove it I'd put my life savings on them all being alive...

I can believe that Fidel is close to death but before I believe that he is already dead, you have to convince me that there is a logical reason to postpone the announcement of his demise. What benefit is gained from hiding it?

many reasons. preparing everything so their is no surprise attack from usa or any of its neighbors <<< (i know and u know this is very unlikely but this is cuba and these types of countries are paranoid) or uprising in Cuba.

they can gain a lot off fidel's words if they release a statement saying raul castro said this or said that it wouldn't be taken as seriously as if fidel said the same words.

they are also looking for the opportune moment to say he's dead no doubt something big will be happening somewhere else when they do so. all the world will be focused on that particular event . this is why i thought they would announce it during obama's inauguration , but i think fidel wasnt dead then.

they want to do it in the quietest way possible, but i know and you know that is very hard to do so they are waiting for a big event .an iran and israel war would be an example of an opportune moment.

I asked for reasons and you provided them. That being said, I still don't buy it. They've been waiting for an invasion since the Bay of Pigs so I don't believe that one skinny old man is going to make much difference. Raul has had plenty of time to establish himself. Mummifying Fidel won't help much in that either. Waiting for a "slow news day" won't work. Whenever he dies it'll be big news world wide. Is it possible that you're right and Fidel's chilling? Yes. Is it more likely than the alternate scenario of him being sick and unable to rule? No. Be patient, I think he'll go soon.

I think he should stay just since he would not be a good one to miss out on...

But he has said that, like previous American presidents, he will only consider a full lifting of the US embargo once Cuba's communist government makes significant moves such as the holding of democratic elections.

I'm not sure I'd want to have "democracy" imposed upon me by means of threats from the USA.

Or anything else, for that matter.

Settle down Spuddy, it's worked wonders for Iraq.

You guys must be completly insane...

The definition of Fidel Castro is "Dictator" and that of Kim Young-Il is merely "N Korea ruller" ? Do you know who is Kim Y.-I ?

Do you have any knowledge about the situation in North Korea and the way he governs the country?

You should slap your f***** mouth when you call Fidel, the liberator of the cuban people ( who were being completly explored and used by the great and democratic country called America - one of the youngest countries in the world, althought is the one with most blood on his hands), a dictator and when it comes to one of the most demented and cruel man ever steped this contemporary era, he is just the ruller of his country...

and one last thing, why is Cuba so poor comparing with other socialist countries like Venezuela (not taking in consideration that Venezuela has lots of petrol) - because they can't trade their goods and products with no one! funky' USA and most of European countries wont trade or buy cuban products, Cuba is commercially blocked, having left to trade Africa, China, very few european countries, and of course, Venezuela.. Bolivia... but that's not enough... So Cuba is poor, it is not because of the socialist regime (not communist, people talk about communism this....communism that...but they don't know crap about communism, and if they knew it, they should know that for Cuba to be a communist country - it wouldn't have any Fidel rulling it, nor anyone, because there would be no State.) but because of the capitalist world that refuses to acept a country with different aspirations, values and ideas. We called ourselves occidental, democratic and civilizationed countries but we don't accept different ways of thought... (of course when i mean democratic and civilization countries... i'm only refering to USA (which a the country that barely fits this description)

Following your scatter-brained logic, there are NO communist (or truly democratic) countries in the world.....they ALL have a leader.

Castro is the worst sort of puppet-dictator...he's a nepotist. Who else would pre-install their brother as "supreme leader".

Yes, the Cubans may feel empowered (for a couple of hours a day, at least until the power gets cut off yet again).

If Cuba hates the USA, why not simply ban baseball from Cuba?

Also, the persistent waves of Cubans attempting to flee their beloved country should get you thinking.....

The one good thing I can think of about Cuba is that, no matter what sh*thole a person comes from, visiting Cuba will give them a glowing feeling of self-worth and pride; given the poverty Cubans have to tolerate. Life's always better when you see someone even worse off than you.
